Interview – Adobe Premiere Pro, Direct Editing From the Cloud, Premiere for Mobile, and More

Adobe continues to evolve its pro video ecosystem with new AI-driven tools, a redesigned mobile editing app, and a deep commitment to ethical AI development. At Adobe MAX 2025, I spoke with Meagan Keane, Director of Product Marketing for Adobe’s Pro Video software, about how these updates are shaping the future of filmmaking workflows. Here at Adobe MAX 2025, we had the opportunity to talk to Meagan Keane and learn more about the direction Adobe is taking with its well-established Adobe Premiere Pro, alongside the introduction of a new mobile version. Meagan emphasized that AI has been part of Premiere Pro for nearly a decade, powering tools such as Auto Reframe, Auto Ducking, and Auto Color. What has changed, she explained, is the introduction of generative AI. According to Meagan, many of the current developments, like Enhanced Speech, were a direct response to users asking for the Adobe Podcast technology inside Premiere. Premiere Pro: AI assistant, not a replacement for human touch While some creators worry AI might replace the human touch, Meagan clarified that Adobe’s goal is to amplify creativity, not automate it. Generative features like Generative Extend are meant to fix imperfect shots or fill missing frames—tasks that support rather than replace editorial decisions. In other words, even when creators use generative tools, their personal perspective defines what makes a piece engaging.
