Sony BURANO Firmware Update V2.01 Released – with Expanded Recording Options

Sony has released firmware update Version 2.01 for the Digital Motion Picture Camera BURANO (MPC-2610), updating systems from previous versions 1.10 and earlier. The Sony BURANO was introduced to the market in fall 2023, and since then, it has had a single firmware update (Version 1.1) in June 2024. Originally, Sony was planning to release V2.0 in March, but instead, we are getting firmware version 2.01 in June. For checking the history of the firmware update, please head here. New recording formats The update introduces three new recording formats: FFcrop 3.8K 16:9 recording up to 120fps S35 4.3K 4:3 aspect imager scan mode for anamorphic shooting up to 60fps S35 1.9K 16:9 recording up to 240fps (SDI and HDMI outputs unavailable at 240fps) Anamorphic and monitoring features Operators can now select 1.8x de-squeeze settings for anamorphic lenses. The camera adds 24.00p frame rate support to X-OCN 16:9 imager scan modes. New monitoring tools include High/Low key exposure settings and VF Gamma Display Assist for S-Log3 monitoring. The system expands White Balance memory positions from three to eight presets.
