On February 25, 2021 Nikon will release a new free firmware update version 1.10 for the Nikon Z 6II and Z 7II, that will enable RAW output over HDMI to Blackmagic Video Assist 12G recorders, add new controls for ProRes RAW in Final Cut Pro X, add internal 4K UHD 60fps recording on the Nikon Z 6II, and improve eye-detect AF. In December 2020 Nikon released a new firmware for its older cameras – the Z 6 and Z 7 that served as a base for the raw video output for these cameras. As previously stated, the RAW output upgrade must be done in an authorized Nikon Service Center and it costs $199.95 per camera plus shipping. It is free of charge only for those customers who bought the Nikon Z 6 Filmmaker’s kit (includes Nikon Z 6 with 24-70mm f/4 lens, Atomos Ninja V, Nikon FTZ Adapter, Moza Air 2 gimbal, plus cables, etc.).
