  • @zvex1 what do they mean by "GH5 camera"..what kind of machine is that?

  • Hi, if your after cheap brushless gimbals that work then go check out goodluckbuy or rctimer. I would only use alexmos gimbal controller but you can buy the clones very cheap now, but I find the alexmos works loads better, and has a better gui. rctimer have a very nice fully adjustable sony nex/dslr size gimbal with motors due out next week(1st week of july) and only £100. also check out rcgroups loads of info on there..... most gimbals on ebay are from goodluckbuy!!!! you can buy direct and save loads.... this is a link for the rctimer dslr gimbal http://www.rctimer.com/index.php?gOo=goods_details.dwt&goodsid=912&productname=

  • Yes of course, we'll make a better demo as soon as possible... also including car to car shots, preceding actors, skateboarders... :).

  • @Andreask do you possibly have another demo for your product? I feel like the one you have posted on your website isn't showing all the possibilities of the system, and since I'm from Europe, I believe a lot of EU customers would be interested in your system, but at that pricetag the video should be more "show-off"...do you have another one in plan?

  • If we decide to offer a smaller version for nex or lumix it'll of course be cheaper. But I think for all cameras with Super 35 chipsize you'll need a remote focus anyway (... also with the upcoming blackmagic pocket cinema camera for example) so the 2 kg weight range seems perfect, even with those small cameras. Though the GH3 has a object tracking autofocus that works quite well, but the wifi connection to the smartphone is a little tricky for paid jobs...

Also the stabilized third axis is very important for shooting handheld.

  • There's a brushless camera gimbal on eBay for $479us that can handle a nex5n or gopro. Search for item number 251295764461 Looks decently priced if it works.

  • The price will be for a tested and tuned unit and is directed to people who want to purchase a complete and proven system rather than the DIY guy. It is possible to build DIY for less but beleave me, it needs a lot of work and time to finetune it. Nobody who builds these kind of stabilizers for himself will count his own time but as you start building for others you'll have to calculate that in.

I think that's why all the new companies come to similar starting prices, which are way below the MoVI, though. I know of two chinese companies that came up with their own systems, even their own software, but I also heard of a price much higher than ours.

  • yes and no @vk. I work for a small company and im in a position that I know about our production, cost, capital etc and based on what we charge our customers after accounting for cost of production it's not that complicated. Yes I know it's a company, they have being doing it for years. Yes it's complicated if all the capital is coming just from you.

  • Damn, people are charging ridiculous prices for these stabilizers, it's not that complicated to make!!

Everything is not complicated until you start making it :-)

  • Im just gonna wait for china-knock-off version of this. Im sure withing a few months China will catch up with this. I have faith on them....

  • We didn't settle a final price yet but it might be around 3.000 Euro, like most of the other DSLR stabilizers in progress.

  • @Andreask what is the cost for the 2kg version?

  • Hello,

we plan to offer a handheld brushless stabilizer soon for cameras up to 5 kg, like the Red Epic. There’ll also be a smaller version for cameras around 2 kg and a larger one for cameras up to 10 kg. The mid sized version is the most advanced in the moment.

We have first prototypes to test and improve step by step and plan to add small joysticks to the handles for better control of pan and tilt in single operator mode. For more information, upgrades and new videos you might visit our website http://www.portahead.de.

  • The starting price of the BeSteady one (handheld) will be 2999dollars, max load 2 kg / 4,4 pounds I guess more of these things will pop up soon, so a little more waiting; though i am prety sure i'll spend some cash on one of these things soon ;-)

  • Design looks solid and nice but this is no go for me. The price too high and the "paid load" of 2Ibs too small IMO. 2Ibs don't really give you much room to work with some good lenses on the GH2.

  • GH2 + 20mm with battery runs about 544g / 1.2 lb

    GH2 + 14-140 OIS lens...1.99 lb

I need some monies quickly :)

  • Just announced: Defy Gimbal G2 small stabilizer (2lb limit) cost for $2,300 USD. For me it's still expensive. Im sure a lot of people will find this is affordable. From http://defygimbal.com/

  • In some of these test videos I wish those people would stop purposely swinging the rig side to side. I mean...."we get it."

  • So jealous. When/how much?

  • Next tests, end of development stage. BeSteady One.

  • I don't think this one has been posted here:

  • Steadycam seems like a serious product...3000€ tag...still way under Movi's 12000.

The oncoming tide of these products is evident...and the days of glide, slide, steady, fly, nano and whatever else -cam's are over. I can smell it. Smells like...stabilized victory :D

Everytime I see a new one I get excited and jealous...excited to see technology move forward in favor of end users and jealous because I'm not in the club yet and I feel like I'm missing out :)
