  • The Salvation

Good, grim and visually top notch.

  • Kill the Messenger

Not the bad film by itself, and makes you remember life reality. And to read good books on the topic.

The subject of KTM is really interesting and a bit bold, the cinematography's worth it; I also liked Renner when in action... sadly his verve and the historic story's own is lost in close family drama, DeWitt's pure dead weight. The result is a well constructed journalistic/political thriller that starts crumbling passed the mid-section and gets buried by its characters shallower (read undeveloped, uninteresting, unexciting) inner dramas, just my opinion offf course. • Dinosaur 13

Not much good visuals (well, many VHS tapes :-) ), but lots of good content with slow pace.

  • Relatos salvajes

    Good, fun, slightly dark :-)

  • Mord ist mein Geschäft, Liebling

Easy, completely not serious and absurd, similar to old European comedies.

  • Big Eyes

    Quite stylish film.

But main point is that it shows huge role of marketing in art (and it is same in photo-video area).
Final scene (made specially inaccurate) and ruling is absolutely inaccurate and unfair, of course (even all damaged were finally zeroed, and no one took paintings). But people are dumb and eat any feminist shit now. I won't even go about reviews in major newspapers where it is all depicted as some form of woman slavery. Real sad (for some) truth is that it was amazing union where qualities of one matched ones from another.
People really want to see this - artist who are constantly travelling, good at sales, giving interviews, they do not care that it is also hard work in reality, especially at the low level. But on this one also.
Take one part of this union and remove it and whole think breaks, as history showed.

Also story looks faked depicting reasons for coming out. As it seems like Jehovah's Witnesses stood behind it, as after they discovered this fact during some private talks they become interested in money it can bring.

They also faked final titles slightly, as the man died in 85 years (and from titles you could think that he died in his mids being drunk homeless guy), yep he did not have much money, but he had quite a life where he spend almost all of them.

More serious and detailed book on the story - http://www.amazon.com/Citizen-Keane-Lies-Behind-Eyes/dp/1936239957/

In researching the true story behind the Big Eyes movie, we discovered that the popularity of the big-eye paintings soared when the Keanes started to mass produce the images for sale as posters, on postcards, china plates, refrigerator magnets, etc., making the art affordable to the masses. It was also available at mainstream locations like supermarkets and gas stations.

Walter had an extraordinary flair for marketing. In many ways he pioneered the mass-marketing of art in America, using the latest print technology to produce hundreds of thousands of posters of Margaret's work.

  • Quiz Show

Just added this as it has some resemblance to previous entry. Film has some issues, but main part that it is about real famous scandal (that did not changed anything) on TV.

Of course, film rigged facts a bit to add drama and personal things.
Of course, real Charles Van Doren was not indecisive sheep.

  • Dreiviertelmond

    Pure simplicity of life.

  • Cobbler

Something similar to Miss Meadows Less stylish and thought. Not best movie, but idea was good, script and execution need improvement.

It also lack of crazy simplicity or Mord ist mein Geschäft, Liebling required for similar comedy to work.

  • Paddington

Simple, quite smart, like children oriented 90s movies, but with modern CGI (limited to where it is needed).

  • Flawless

It has many things from old detective films, carefully using exaggerated stamps where it is required (bankers, etc)

Kind of fairy tale for adults.

  • Musicals adaptations

Not much words necessary. Good songs and quite good acting.

    Hairspray

    Mamma Mia

  • John Q

Story about advantages of insurance based medicine.

    Assault on Wall Street

With bankers you need more extreme measures.

  • 50 to 1

With all shortcomings it is quite interesting sometimes.

  • Thin Ice

No, it is not full Fargo ripoff. And yes, it has big script, music and acting flaws.

I think can be here as example of thing that if done much better could be really good film.

  • Flypaper

    Quite fun and stupid.

  • Vantage Point

Good concept (not absolutely new, but good). Pace and contents are similar to 24.

  • Hard day

    Good, properly made Korean film.

    Sometimes fun, sometimes scary :-)

  • Danny Collins

    Simple and.. good.

  • Keeping Mum

    Stylish, simple, perfect.

  • The World's Fastest Indian

At least you need to watch this to honor smart, determinate and good man.
And read real story that is even more interesting than film.

  • Rat race, 2001

One of the fun, absurd and good pace comedies.

  • Blast from the Past

Really good movie. Fun and sometimes not.
