Sachtler aktiv16T/18T and FSB 16T/18T Mk II Announced – Heavier Payloads, Same Fast Workflow

Sachtler is extending its aktiv and FSB Mk II lines with four higher-capacity fluid heads aimed at ENG and documentary shooters, promising faster setup and reliable balance for shoulder-mounted rigs in the 16 to 18 kilogram range. Here’s the Sachtler aktiv16T, Sachtler aktiv18T, and Sachtler FSB 16T Mk II, and Sachtler FSB 18T Mk II. Sachtler adds the aktiv16T and aktiv18T to the SpeedLevel/SpeedSwap ecosystem and introduces the FSB 16T Mk II and FSB 18T Mk II for crews who prefer a classic tie-down workflow. The new heads support maximum payloads of 16 kg and 18 kg, covering larger ENG cameras and accessorized documentary builds. Availability is slated for October 2025, as head-only or complete systems, and the first public showing is at IBC 2025 on the Videndum stand, 13.A05. What’s new for aktiv users The aktiv heads keep Sachtler’s hallmark speed features: SpeedLevel for quick release, level, and lock in seconds, and SpeedSwap for rapid changes between tripod, slider, or handheld setups. Paired with flowtech (here’s our review), operators can also achieve very low angles thanks to the mounting design.
