At Cine Gear 2025, we stopped by the DZOFILM booth to talk with Bruno Huang about the company’s latest announcement: the Vespid Prime II. At launch, there will be six focal lengths ranging from 18 to 105mm, with a faster T1.9 maximum aperture compared to the first Vespid generation, and the addition of the Cooke /i Technology. So, let’s take a closer look at these compact and affordable prime lenses! The original Vespid primes were released in October 2020 and really put DZOFILM on the map for many filmmakers and content creators looking to buy their first set of cinema lenses. In 2022, the company released the Vespid Retro lenses with a new coating and exterior housing for those looking to capture more “vintage-looking” images. However, DZOFILM has since moved to higher-end lenses such as the PAVO 2X anamorphic lenses, or the newly announced Arles Lustre lens set. DZOFILM is already back, and during CineGear 2025, the company showcased the second generation of one of their most successful products: the Vespid Prime II. The DZOFILM Vespid Prime II.
