DJI Osmo Action 6 Firmware Update Adds 8K Video and More

With the latest firmware, the DJI Osmo Action 6 can now record 8K UHD video in up to 30fps, and it can upload footage wirelessly to cloud or NAS. Furthermore, there are new film-style tone presets, QS button customization options, focus peaking assistance feature with the macro lens, and more. Announced roughly a month ago, the newest action camera from the Chinese tech company DJI made headlines with a unique feature in the field of action cameras – the Osmo Action 6 features a variable aperture lens (f/2.0-4.0). Now with the latest firmware, the camera received 8K video recording and other features. Let’s take a quick look at the details. DJI Osmo Action 6 firmware update adds 8K video The recently released firmware update version v01.02.0521 brings a few major improvements and new features. Perhaps the most eye-catching one is a new 8K video recording mode. The image sensor used in the Osmo Action 6 is a 1/1.1″ type CMOS sensor with an effective resolution of 38MP (7168 x 5376) which is also a maximum available resolution in the stills mode. As you can see, this is not a square aspect ratio resolution and it is also not sufficient for the 7680 x 4320 (16:9 8K UHD) resolution. I suppose the Osmo Action perhaps slightly upscales the resolution to get to 8K. Nevertheless, if you want to film a scene and crop in later in the post-production, you should get more detail than with the previously available 4K maximum resolution....
