Atomos Announces 12-Bit Apple ProRes RAW Support For Z CAM E2 Camera

Atomos has just announced that the Atomos Ninja V 5″ HDR monitor-recorder will support ProRes RAW recording from the Z CAM E2. The Ninja V will be able to record 12-bit Apple ProRes RAW at up to 4K60p. We caught up with Dan Chung from Atomos to learn more about it. Image credit: Atomos Z CAM E2 Features The Z CAM E2 is a very compact and lightweight cinema camera that we discovered during NAB 2018. Here is a quick summary of the features and what this small camera is capable of: The Z CAM E2 features a micro 4/3″ WDR CMOS sensor (19mm x 13mm). There is a Micro Four-Thirds lens mount. Up to 13 stops of dynamic range. Internally, it can record to CFAST 2.0 cards in C4K and 4K UHD at up to 160 fps in H.265. In HD resolution, you can go at up to 240 fps in H.265. In Apple ProRes 4:2:2 10-bit, you can go at up to 60 fps. Finally, in ZRAW (partial-debayer), it supports C4K at up to 30 fps internally. Dual native ISO: 500 and 2500 ISO. Various picture profiles available including Rec.709 / Z-Log2 / FLAT / HLG. You can power it via Sony NP-F style batteries, or the DC 12V 5A 4-pin LEMO connector.
