Has anyone encountered any 4k footage from the fs700 yet?
anybody using FS 100/700 with Metabones Canon EF Lens to Sony NEX Smart Adapter II and Tokina 11-16 /2.8 ? I read in a forum about issues with focus to infinity but I'm not shure wether this is believable because I didn't find any other report.
Are there issues due to bigger super 35mm sensor (1.5) to APS-C (1.6) lens?
High Speed and Low Light with the NEX-FS700 by Adam Wilt

Bloom just posted part 1 of his FS700 review.

Part 2 comes next week.
This thing is 8 bit, bummer.
I guess the FS700 price was as expected. I'm curious to see the translated prices in europe.
The question is. What other camera it the near future would compete and combine run and gun friendly features like xlr, nd-filters, focus peaking etc. with large sensor on a converter-friendly mount? I think AF100 is the closest match, but it's not that appealing. I'm also worried about Panas future in the AF-line, concidering no announcements at NAB.
Regarding the FS700 I'm mostly concerned about if the avchd codec holds up. I mostly shoot docustyle, so having an efficient codec is ofcourse a good thing (and I don't want to use and external recorder). But still, I need to grade and do color correction. I believe I read on eoshd that the FS100 avchd codec was suprisengly good, so hopefully the implementation can make a difference.
Do you have any thoughts about the codec, and differences between different avchd implementations?
Thanks.
Yep, it cost $8000.

But I still think it is too pricey for such camera.
Very nice review of FS700 with lots of juicy high speed footage at 1080p --- and get this, autofocus tracking at high speed!
That was a terrible golf swing...
Jesus! That's almost as sharp as our GH2s :-p
4K raw is a tremendous amount of data. Rumor has it that the yet-to-be-released Sony recorder will have some form of on-board compression.
Since the camera is just outputting digital data at 4k, why can't an inexpensive devise just write the data stream to SSds? I can understand a $5k deck that is converting an analog signal to a digital file.
I know this is foolishness, but once the firmware comes out to allow the FS700 4k, can Vitaliy reverse engineer it for the A65? How about the NEX7?
@L1N3ARX "For regular 24p stuff, sony has a pretty hard time nailing down any sort of filmic look which is too bad."
Could just be the long-GOP motion on the stock codec... we've been spoiled. But the F3 and FS100 always looked pretty filmic to me...
