Hi VK, What are your intentions now with the latest v1.1 from Panny. Hacking it will be sometime? Or is there nothing worth hacking? I'm interested in what we can do to the HBR setting,, as it could enable us to to keep apart 25p, unless youve found its still related to 24p? Best, Nick

Mate, I just wanna say the new ptools with ISO patch is fuckin tremendous -its incredible actually, and people said the GH2 is shit in low light - it aint that bad at all!!! I cant congratulate you enough for all your hard work. Fuckin top man.

Hi mate, what have you used to measure calibration - obviously for visual effects requiring extremely high quality you need the highest i frames so I quite understand - which I can get but the buffer goes weird - it still writes high files but we need new ptools.
However, what you need to test is a long take - the GOP1 maintains the highest average quality than any other settting - proven. Please do a long scene to scene test - especially on wide angle shots.

25p. In your 1080 Progressive setting in patches for testers, what exactly have you done - an attempt to change a sensor setup mode?

I know you just took a post down, but that was a genuine question 'is that 25p?' I'm sorry but Ive been testing GOP1 720p50 and 1080 to see what happens for 5 hours. Just seemed a tad strange when I got that msg up 'Is this 25p in a wrapper / Native 25pH' - especially when it happened on my GOP1 tests, using the first two 720 encoder settings set to 1 and Scaling High T1 set to Scaling Med 3. Just wanted to see what other people got.

The rest of data doesnt matter... Yep, after masses of testing, I just went to a 36000000 video buffer - and you get the best, most rock solid buffer analysis out of the lot. Its the best setting for gop3 period. :-)

Hi Ralph, I really dont want to announce this on the thread but Chris's seti settings - the 66M one fails badly on 1080i FSH and 720p (pappas and 2 trees of death tests). I really dont think these parts of the patch should be recommended. But I don't wanna piss anyone off. Were your tests geared towards reliability?

@Vitaliy_Kiselev What pointers do we currently have for 25p with the current ptools? Im just about to start a huge PAL test to get top max settings for 1080i and 720p50. Is the current ptools a complete nono for a 25p mode? Even if we have to kludge something is there ANY pointers you can direct me in? Save me a bit of time....

PS I'm finishing off my HDMI tests tonight.

I want you to build me a version of your steadicam to test over here. How much would it cost me plus postage?

@sethdp Theres nothing to see informing of new settings on the gh2 itself. The settings you loaded into ptools, saved as a bin, are then written into the camera (rather like a computer gets an updated firmware with better settings but with gh2 theres no new menus). With the 66mbps patch you just installed, hit record after selecting the gh2's 1080p24 H mode - the camera is now filming in higher bitrate/better quality than before! :-)

When you bring your recorded mts files back into the computer check quality etc...!

If you dont like it, simply reinstall the stock GH2__V10.bin (you downloaded) back into ptools, leave /uncheck everything to keep original GH2 factory settings (or adjust and write new settings to a newer bin (give it a +1 increment when you save it) and start the process of flashing your camera with the new firmware all over again.

Henry, hi. Im starting my hdmi tests from tomorrow. Because of the chance of bricking the cam, would you think it agreeable to do staged testing / coordinated so we don't all brick cams at the same time! ie one test at a time in turn?

The 132 of eijias is my setting I advised him to shoot on. 140M is good as most my tests I wanted to try and cap the buffer to the possibe peak of the GH2 (without overuns and overruns) so 140M is better but uses more storage. :-)

Explain why 3.62 does not make sense?. I am using the bare minimal changes and concentrating on buffers and filling it stable, with a constant plotting on the chart with pappas death chart. Im not interested in any of the other settings at this stage!

HI eiji, I'm still refining my tests so I cant publish my settings yet. However, as you discovered, and, as I previously wrote, 88M with EVERYTHING unchecked and 36000000 used in 1080p24 video buffer, should give you tremendous results and full use of the buffer. Trust the settings you trested, they work fine for me. The only file I couldnt play back was pappas death chart incamera. Incidentally AQ2 or 3 works fine as your Quantiser. :-)

HI mate, think you may have an earlier 100mbps test setting of mine. can you confirm you have checked 1080p 24 T4 = T1 in Quantiser Tables setings in ptools? This should be checked to defeat cadence problems.

Kae have you tried the quantise matrix scaler settings yet with 3 gop?
