Checked the original .mts files on my Acer Aspire One D270 with Windows starter, the "rain" is not noticeable at all with Windows Media Player. BUT: It is noticeable in Windows in my uploaded mp4 which was reencoded on a MAC for attachment.

So the error was finally baked in by Quicktime, and there is something going wrong with Quicktime on a Mac, probably in conjunction with Flowmotion?

@karl You wont´t notice the rain in a still, because the contrast of the white lines is as weak as the banding (or solarization) effect of 8 bit. But they change rapidly, from frame to frame, this is what makes them noticeable. The greenish solaraziation around the dark areas ist stronger than the "rain" but less noticeable because ist is steady. Give those 2 stills a try, but even for me it was hard to find the stripes for marking. Again, the mp4 should show the error on Mac and PC. The original files should only show the error on Mac (OS 10.6.8) The images are two following frames.

@peternap I don't recall the error message wording. If I see it again, I'll write it down and post it, here.

@diafragma1939 I've been shooting in both 1080i and 720. Only the initial error, in 1080i, and trouble-free since. BTW, I'm using Transcend 32gb class-10 SDHC.

Hi All... I am brand new here and would first like to thank each and every one of you for all your hard work. Over the last day or two I have been reading up on the GH2 hacks. I want to try Flow Motion v2.0 but for the life of me I can't figure out how to download it. I assumed it was at the bottom of the initial post here. But all that is, is a graphic of a document. Am I missing something obvious here? Also can you point me to PTools 3.65d? I d/l 3.64 yesterday from a separate site, (that is where I found personal-view link) and tried a patch on my GH2, but it was unstable with my San Disk Extreme 45Mb/sec card.

@karl. Have you tried your hybrid setting with SD cards other than Sandisk extreme 95mb/s? For example Sandisk extreme 32GB 30mb/s. I am interested in a stable 720p60.

@ rsquires "But it shouldn't change so badly should it" Sorry, but i think wrong whitebalance can transform human to purple Martian. If i want real good skin tones, i allways use a greycard.

@karl thanks I'll give that a go. I don't really use auto but I am pretty sure I didn't adjust the colour of the sunny setting.

@karl can you do that for PAL users too please? :)

@Frame Yes, it’s there. I had a similar problem (much more pronounced) when I loaded a clip in QuickTime Player 7 once. It was a one-time glitch and I don’t remember what patch I used.

@karl No Plasma, even though I have one. Macbook Pro 15" with LED Display and NEC Multisync 232 for previewing. i see it on both screens. White flickering stripes with an angle of about 30 degree, the motion and flicker remind of rain. It could be a Mac-based decoding problem - and Fluid-Motion would be the first patch to show it - but then it is burned into the material after transcoding to mp4. This is what I did, so you should see something. I see it in the original mts as well as in the zipped mp4

@Frame: I downloaded your clip and played it a lot of times in a loop, even single-stepped throught the frames, but I cannot see the effect you are describing.

From your description, the effect sounds similar to a thing that Plasma TVs do to counter aging effects (kind of dithering bright areas), but I was watching the clip on a LCD. You do not coincidally use a Plasma...? :-)

Hmm, I have a nice "Tarkovski" effect: It suddenly seems to rain in my apartment. Just download & play the attached clip of the reply below and watch especially the left side, the flickering looks like fast snow rain close to the lens. Play the clip in a loop if you don´t notice it. Most visible in blurred areas. Shot 24H with 14-140, automatic focus on and shutter priority of 50 + auto Iso, and also with shutter prority & Iso of 160. Did not test manual mode, but loaded Sanity 5 again, the rain-effect is gone now...

Just took a shot into the new Speedgrade and isolated some of the yellow in the skintones and pulled them toward magenta. Seemed to work very well. Would be nice to not have to do that though.

Using sandisk extreme 45Mb/s had no problem in hbr/25p and extele ,recording a tree(almost filling the frame)..bitrate 55-65 using smooth (-2,-2,0,-2) with tamron 17-50... Same exactly scene in 720/50p mode i had to pull off the battery after 10-15 sec of recording... Formatted using sd formatter utility and i'll try again today.. PS i was using 1/50 and f/4 iso 160 and manual focus so no extra stressing the encoder...
