On a dashcamtalk forum (mentioned above) people are modifying Xiaomi firmware to get higher bitrates, up to 35Mbps with good results. I think if the skilled people of PV forum would try to work on it - we could get even better results... And this tiny cam is really a shining diamond for such a price! Some more to read about moded firmware here http://4pda.ru/forum/index.php?showtopic=647390&view=findpost&p=39596181

Use code - xiaoyi
isoNo: LPCM is used for the audio track of the video clip. H264 is the codec used for the video portion of the clip. None of this is very informative unless we know the sampling rate (48Hz, 44.1Hz, 32Hz) and bits (16,8) for the audio, and the bitrates and other parameters of the video codec.
SJcam outputs H.264 video in .mov files, not .wav. Wikipedia says that there are LPCM .wavs, too.
Here's the Wiki: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pulse-code_modulation
It's beyond me. I think it means it gives a more constant bitrate (less fluctuation)? I don't know.
LPCM - Linear Pulse Code Modulation = uncompressed WAV

I picked up an SJ Cam (not the Yi, but similar GoPro-like) a while back. I was thinking I could do a multicam shoot (with matching cameras) on a small budget.
It seems to perform ok: just don't use auto anything...camera transition between white balance/exposure/etc. is not smooth. Construction is a little flimsy, too (battery door bent -- was just plastic -- but battery seems to stay in during stationary shots without it). Audio isn't great either, but the price without WiFi is ~$73 at b and h. They have another model with WiFi, too.
Interesting to note: it has a different type of bitrate sampling than most cameras. Something called LPCM. I couldn't find much about it on the internet.

Somebody posted a video of the SJ Cam with WiFi (~$100)
Are there any downloadable clips? The youtube sample looks good as far as DR but it looks heavily compressed.
Prices include shipping
Does it have clean 1080p hdmi output ?
I'll tell you sad fact - cat is not included, even as option. Do not know that Chinese managers are thinking. :-)
A question to users: how good is the included carrier cat? How long is it able to carry the cam without cat food? How smooth are jump offs and landings? Does it twist automatically to land on legs when dropped?
Already up to 85$ and no longer in stock. Well, gotta wait for this one then. :) seems like a great option for someone who doesn't need this kind of camera very often but likes the flexibility.
Shooting a pilot for Discover Channel the spring/summer where I could use about 6-10 of these. I hope I can easily get some in the States by then.
...alot of press ! Let's see if it makes it to civilization.
