Jason Reitman is directing the new Ghostbusters movie, and he has made it clear that he will not be continuing the storyline of Paul Feig’s female-cast Ghosbusters, but rather in his own words according to comingsoon.net: “...in every way trying to go back to the original technique and hand the movie back to the fans” Oof. The problem with this quote is… where to begin? It’s almost as if the younger Mr. Reitman was under a rock and not working in Hollywood when Feig’s film met absurd and ugly backlash from “the fans” about casting women. Leslie Jones, in particular, was the target of extreme vitriol. She’d considered leaving twitter. Trolls have had a pretty large impact on the social media and internet presence of these major films.
