Does anyone had a chance to compare it to the 5n, it's moire and aliasing really an issue with this camera? I've been offered a 5r with 16-50mm for a really good price (cheaper than a 5n) so I was wondering if it's worth it or not. I was considering a G6, but for the same price I could get the 5r with the 16-50, add a chinese speedbooster and a canon fd 50 1.4. Budget is an issue so I'm trying to make the best choice!
Sony has released two new apps on their PlayMemories App Store for owners of their Wi-Fi-equipped NEX-5R and NEX-6 cameras. The apps, Light Shaft and Motion Shot are available in the PlayMemories App Store .
Light Shaft lets you add Ray, Star, Flame, and Beam effects to photos you've already taken. Sony's examples show include adding 'God Rays' to a photo, or a lens flare effect to a diamond ring.
Motion Shot takes a series of exposures, isolates the moving subject (such as a skier), and superimposes them over a fixed background.
JAjajajaja, not seeing myself taking pictures of me against a statue, at least in this life time. But now to be honest its a nice cam for anyone who will use it for creativity work, or just for fun, even though the video make me laugh quite a bit. Sony is targeting young people with this cam, or maybe just getting "modern". Hey and i have anything against any kinds of people. This demographic "status" you mention is nothing but Imperial and colonialist way of thinking, to engage some people on not having criteria, We are all the same in spite of every differences.
Apart from that the camera apps is nice step to somewhere.
I see it appeals to @leonbeas demographics.
Camera apps dedicated site
JAJAJjaajjaajja Well that is most probably true, @retorspective come on unslashit...
If they open up development, my bet is that the first app would be a beach perv bubbling appis
@leonbeas It's a G/aY cam?
Have you guys seen the promotional video, its a G/aY Cam... That promotional is just no good for marketing purposes, well at least for thinking people.
Oh, you're right. Sorry about that.
It is NEX topic :-)
Wohaaa! The rumor site is saying the GH3 will PEAK!!! :) It was about time!!!
@Oscillian Expect the 5R to have moire and alaising and you will avoid dissapointment. :-)
Btw, check my blog post about Sony vs Samsung book. If you read it, you'll get why IFA presentations had been different and why.
Yep! Give us some video examples and see if Sony's improved something :) The RX100 is virtually free from artifacts, except macroblocking and some CA that a decent bitrate or good lens wouldn't cure, so why shouldn't they succeed with the NEX too? Exciting!
@duartix Whatever and however works out for you :) Once used to Gh2's details and color, it's hard to ditch it for sure. But Sony NEX is getting interesting for sure. Maybe one day. I like those topics dedicated to each products. No, intermingling Gh2 with new NEX topic isn't interesting anymore. Nobody cares what I buy or why I wanna buy. Neither you.
Let's focus on NEX 5R's new features.
I have about a dozen of legacy lenses that I could easily mount on NEX. I've always had issues with MF on those lenses and Sony seems to be just the right tool with peaking and the high resolution EVF. The electronic first curtain is the proverbial shot in the aircraft carrier too, because I can't shake the shutter blur at anything slower than 1/200s on my 300mms on the GH2, no matter how solid the tripod is. Those are the times when I wish I had an OM-D, because IBIS is very effective in these situations. And then I'm a frequent stacker for which the NEX seems a natural born killer with the apps. When I look at the body, it's all screaming NEX back at me..., but when I start to look at the glass, that's when m43 starts to shine, because I'm sure I'd miss the m43 extreme telephoto range and I also don't see how I could replace/sell the 7.5mm Samyang (not that I want to, anyway).
Fortunately the GH3 seems to be on the right track to address some of those issues and to be quite honest, I've been bitten by the video bug and that's where all manufacturers except for Panasonic just fall to their knees... Maybe I can buy it, one year from now! :) And a cheaper OM-DL (light) to act as second body for photographic purposes.
From openess point of view the idea behind the new small samsung android camera is the real deal....
The things that are keeping me from changing now is: recording time limit, overheating, moire and aliasing. I love the focus peaking, APS-C sensor and higher res screen on the Sonys though, but I can't afford one of these going blank during a wedding.
All of available apps are really existing camera functions, already developed, just interface moved to separate applications.
So you are fu***d two times: when you buy the camera and when you believe to get something extra via the apps but you already paid before :)
