    Dang, that's less than I paid for my G85 body. Grrrr.

    My advice is: buy if you are OK with around 18Mbps bitrate for 1080p and very noisy low-light in 4K

    As the guy who constantly use 20Mbps videos from Panasonic cameras I can tell you that it is one of the best (if not best) H.264 encoder in the industry. Especially good on static shots.

    @DrDave I used to own one. Unfortunately I may have been spoiled using high end ENG cameras, where the images don't "break" or pixelate under constant motion, and all sorts of lightning conditions. This was probably resulting from a combination of hardware encoder, bitrate, and format used. In that sense I was constantly comparing ENG footage to G85 mp4's, unjustly.

    Another thing, bitrates are typically VBR, and rarely reach the maximum advertised. So the 20Mbps for 30p, is usually 17-19Mbps, and it shows on the results.

    I am a big fan of keeping things simple: more bitrate divided by less frames at a smaller resolution = better quality. In essence, 200Mbps at 24fps in 1080p INTRA (x-t3) will probably look better than 18Mbps at 30fps in 1080p Long GOP (g85).
