We do... according to the standards that we have set for ourselves... ;) Which is basically just regurgitating old books and memorizing crap. Academia in the states has confused "responsibility" with "intelligence". It's "responsible" to memorize dates and turn in your homework on time. It's not "intelligent". An ipod could probably be considered part of out "best educated people in the world".
