Wide open at F1.4 the lens is almost tack-sharp across the frame. Stopping down to ƒ/2 actually introduces a slight amount of softness - we are talking micro-adjustments, here - but stopping down further to ƒ/2.8 slightly improves sharpness.

Wow, what a lens.... but I don't think Nikon will sell many units nevertheless.
Very good results

Bokeh and very good contrast and sharpness across the full-frame sensor, even with the aperture opened to f1.4. This performance coupled with the build-quality of a professional Nikon lens and a reliable AF makes for a compelling package.

I've been looking at 100-105. I currently use the 1970s 105mm, a decently sharp lens but no coating. It will be interesting to see how this compares to the Canon 100mm F2 USM (not the macro) which is a fine lens and presumably less expensive. Obvious differences, of course.
