Anybody have clips of how the VC image stabilization performs on Nikon bodies for video?
Tamron 15-30mm ƒ/2.8 excels when mounted on a sub-frame cameras, where the image sensor doesn't "see" the corner performance of the lens. The lens provides excellent results for sharpness, straight away from ƒ/2.8 and at any focal length. Stopped down to ƒ/4 the lens provides tack-sharp images across the frame.
Tamron has a good balance, with high central sharpness wide-open and sharpness improving across the frame on stopping down, and with generally good control of chromatic aberration. On the downside, it has some slight field curvature at 30mm and it has quite high levels of both barrel and pincushion distortion that are more noticeable than the Nikkor equivalents.
Tamron SP 15-30MM F/2.8 Di VC USD is a fantastic ultra-wide zoom lens. This lens is a combination of the best of all of the other wide zoom lenses out there, combined into one.
Image quality is excellent, with fantastic center and edge sharpness throughout almost the entire zoom and aperture range. Chromatic aberrations are very well controlled, geometric distortion is quite obvious but to be expected for an ultrawide lens, and flare is only ever an issue when shooting directly into the sun.

To sum up the boasting of Tamron about the superior quality of their new lens proved to be true. The company managed to present a device which compares favourably with its rivals, is cheaper, has optical stabilization and a 5-year warranty period - it would be difficult not to recommend it. Independent producers have been proving for some time that they are no longer specializing in cheap equivalents of brand name lenses. The Tamron 15-30 mm is an excellent example of that strategy.
At F2.8, the Tamron edges out the Nikon a little in center sharpness, outperforms it significantly in left corner sharpness, and is of comparable sharpness at the right corner. Note that at slightly less extremes, the differences are hardly worth noting, with the Nikon even perhaps slightly outperforming the Tamron in the left and right less extreme corners.

it doesn't look much bigger than the Sigma 18-35mm in the videos. That woman just has really small hands.
