this adapter is missing a deal breaking feature. Theres no way shoot without ND. You have to carry an extra no filter adapter. feels like they didn't think this through.
ideal does not exist :-) but if you want variable ND it can be option. Requires testing, of course.
If they'd put aperture and nd...and a good focal reducer inside, make a eos/m43, then I'd be impressed !
with HolyManta you can shoot with no ND if wanted. Only thing is HolyManta is triple the price but its done right.
Something like this should of been made a year ago, at least. Totally simple design, just chop an adapter in half, screw in a variable ND in the middle, put it back together....done. Just a question of how good the Vari ND is, and at $99 it's a worry, but since it doesn't have to be a huge 77mm+ one, it might be ok.
If the nd turns out to be ok, and they made a m43/fd and m43/eos, I'd buy it....fotodiox , listening ? Also they would be wise to consider doing this to their canon m/eos electronic adapter, which most m user buy instead of the canon version, at half the price.
Looks really good to me. The convenience is clear. The design seen pretty solid and smooth. Like how dark it can get.
Wish we can have an all in one nd speed booster adapter
FaderNDs are never really good.
oh, k
Yes! Nikon G to E-mount available now:
I wonder if it keeps the parafocal qualities of the Sigma 18-35mm? Infinity focus is one thing, but spot on correct flange distance is pretty tricky to get right. I've tried three different adapters and the only one that got this right was the Rainbow Imaging.
Anyone tried the ND throttle with back lit subjects? I hate the internal reflections you get with a regular fader ND on the front and have a feeling this would do the job nicely.
This works on the A7 series of cameras, looks awesome/essential for videography.
Infinity focus is one thing, but spot on correct flange distance is pretty tricky to get right.
Putting glass between the lens and the sensor changes the flange focal distance by an amount that depends on the thickness of the glass and by the angle of the light rays. So with this kind of adapter it's impossible to have the correct flange focal distance for all lenses for all points on the image. The range of angles tends to be larger with wider lenses.
BTW, Rainbow Imaging adapters aren't necessarily any more correct for flange focal distance than other brands. I have a couple and they're just average. Novoflex and Metabones were worse.
@balazer Thanks for the info!
At Amazon:
Anyone known any place in Europe to purchase this adapter?
Is there a cheaper alternative to the HolyManta which gives the option to shoot without an ND filter?
Also, anything like this for the Samsung NX mount?
I asked the same question of Fotodiox on May 1st:
"Are you planning on making a Vizelex ND Throttle for Samsung NX1?"
Their response was:
"Yes, it is in production. It should be available in the next 1-2 months.
Kind Regards, Fotodiox, Inc."
So it should be out soon unless their production schedule and plans have changed.
Nifty! Except.... it is over two months since May 1st :-/
Gold Box today at $175
Cool - the gold box seems to be for the one with electronics . I've had my eye on those for a while now!
