Two Pro Editors Analyze the Editing in 'Whiplash'

How do professional editors study the editing in movies? What's the difference between good editing and bad editing? Unless you're a professional film editor, you may not entirely know. I mean, yeah, we know what bad editing looks like...cutting too early or too late, discontinuity, breaking the 180-degree rule.
