Sony has just announced two new APS-C mirrorless cameras: the Alpha 6600 and the Alpha 6100. In addition to that, Sony continues to expand its APS-C line of E-mount lenses with the launch of the E 16-55 F/2.8 G and E 70-350mm F/4.5-6.3 G OSS lenses. Let’s take a closer look at these new APS-C products! Sony Alpha APS-C Mirrorless Cameras The Sony Alpha 6600 and Alpha 6100 are two new APS-C mirrorless cameras that have some things in common. For example, they feature the same 24.2-megapixel CMOS image sensor, the latest BIONZ XTM image processor and a front-end LSI implemented in Sony’s full-frame cameras. Also, Sony improved the autofocus speed and accuracy of both cameras. The autofocus acquisition time is incredibly fast at only 0.02 seconds. The Alpha 6600 and Alpha 6100 features 425 focal-plane phase-detection AF points covering approximately 84% of the image area and 425 contrast-detection AF points. Image credit: Sony Another good news is that both cameras have Sony’s “Real-time Tracking” and “Real-time Eye AF” capabilities. This algorithm includes AI-based object recognition, including eyes recognition to make sure humans and animals are perfectly sharp.
