Schneider Optics has two new filters on display here at NAB 2018. One is the True-Streak rainbow filter, the other one is actually a whole line of filters and these True-Net filters are designed to take the guesswork out of using some kind of stockings behind your lens in order to soften the image. Nici Mustain of Schneider Optics was so kind of walking us through their new lineup of filters, namely the True-Streak Rainbow filter and their new line of True-Net filters. Schneider True-Streak Rainbow and True-Net Filters The Ture-Streak Rainbow filter was introduced a while ago, check out our initial coverage here. This filter might not be suitable for everyday use, sure, but if you need that special look it’s always good to go for an in-camera effect rather than applying it in post. Simply because a real 3D look and feel is much more difficult to produce in post than in, well, reality. You’ll limit your possibilities, certainly, but the result will be more natural and flattering. The filter itself comes in various sizes (4 x 4″, 6.6 x 6.6″ and 4 x 5.65″) and is available now. I think it’s really fun to play around with it, even if it won’t be in front of the lens very often.. It’s more of a filter for special occasions, I’d say. The freshly announced line of True-Net filters, on the other hand, might find their way in a lot more gear...
