Poll: Are You Filming Vertically?

In recent years, one of the “hottest filming trends” has become filming vertically, or so we are told by camera manufacturers who are spending time and resources to include vertical filming mode as a standard in their cameras. Of course, we have to mention that one of the major reasons to do so in the first place is taking photos and videos with mobile phones. So in today’s poll, we are curious to find out if our fellow filmmakers are actually using this feature in their day-to-day workflow. Call me an “old-fashioned” cameraman, but the world of filming vertically is still very much foreign to me. Or you know what, let me phrase this differently…I acknowledge the need to film vertically in some circumstances, like when producing a social media reel, but that’s it. Now, as professionals, what do you guys do when you have to film a reel, for example? Do you film in 16×9 and then adjust in post (not ideal at all), or use the mode given by camera manufacturers to originally frame and film vertically? Beyond that, would you consider filming anything other than reels vertically? I mean, we see all sorts of aspect ratios being used in modern productions, but 9×16 is still not (thankfully) common for “regular” productions. This poll uses JavaScript.
