OM-5 Mark II Announced – Featuring Unlimited 4K Recording and Vertical Filming Capabilities

OM Digital Solutions Corporation has announced the OM-5 Mark II, a refined iteration of their popular mirrorless camera that places an emphasis on video capabilities for content creators and filmmakers working in challenging outdoor environments. The camera incorporates a 20.4MP Live MOS Micro Four Thirds sensor and can shoot up to 4K DCI (4096×2160) in true 24p, alongside 120fps in Full-HD. Although the changes from its predecessor are not big, the OM-5 Mark II delivers nice video recording capabilities in a compact form factor. The camera features 4K video recording with no time limits, addressing one of the major pain points for videographers who need extended recording sessions. For filmmakers, the camera offers the possibility to record in LOG picture profile (OM-Log400) to preserve rich detail in both highlights and shadows, providing greater flexibility in post-production color grading and exposure adjustments. Also to be found are two new color profiles, the OM Cinema 1 & 2. Those are meant to help the user achieve a “cinematic look” to video footage without requiring special processing or grading. Finally, there is a new red indicator lamp on the front of the camera that lights up during recording as well. Advanced 5-Axis Stabilization Building on OM System’s (and Olympus before) reputation for great in-body image stabilisation, the OM-5 Mark II combines multiple stabilisation technologies to deliver smooth footage even in challenging shooting conditions. This makes it particularly appealing for handheld shooting scenarios where traditional stabilisation equipment might be impractical. OM-5 Mark II. Credit:...
