CIPA (Camera & Imaging Products Association in Japan) published their latest camera production data (orange: 2022, black: 2021, blue: 2020): June 2022 CIPA numbers by ZoetMB CIPA has predicted 5.29 million DSLR and Mirrorless bodies for calendar 2022 and Nikon has predicted a market of 5.1 million for April ‘22 to March ‘23. We predicted 4.3 to 4.9 million last month and are now predicting 4.75 to 5.14 million units compared to: 2021: 5.348 million 2020: 5.308 million 2019: 8.462 million 2018: 10.76 million 2017: 11.68 million Mirrorless bodies now take 84.1% of ILC shipped value. DSLR shipments fell off a cliff in May. They averaged 163,000 in the first four months of the year, but fell to 95,000 in May, but they jumped back again in June to 124,000 units. Mirrorless units increased by almost 20,000 units in June but shipped value fell by ¥5 million, indicating lower priced units or discounting. Compact units fell by about 1000 units in June, but shipped value increased by about ¥1 million, indicating higher priced units or higher pricing.
