June 2020 CIPA report is out

CIPA (Camera & Imaging Products Association in Japan) published their camera production data for June, 2020 (orange: 2020, black: 2019, blue: 2018, click for larger view): June 2020 CIPA numbers: Big increases over May shipment levels (326K ILC units vs. 215K), but almost no improvement in %’s vs. 2019 Mirrorless bodies now account for 50% of units and 63% of value (of Mirrorless + DSLR). At current pace, total ILC bodies in 2020 will be between 4.03 and 4.33 million units.   It was 8.46 million in 2019, 10.76 million in 2018 and 11.68 million in 2017. Year to Date: (All comparisons to Jan-Jun 2019) DSLR Units : 1192K, -54% YTD DSLR Shipped Value: ¥43.3 billion -51% YTD Mirrorless Units: 1004K , -42% YTD Mirrorless Shipped Value: ¥72.9 billion -43% YTD Compact Units: 1.5m -56% YTD Compact Shipped Value: ¥32.1 billion -49% YTD Lenses for smaller than 35mm Units: 2.28 million -48% YTD Lenses for smaller than 35mm Shipped Value: ¥32.5 billion -47% YTD Lenses for 35mm and larger Units: 1.33 million, -45% YTD Lenses for 35mm and larger Shipped Value: ¥66.1 billion -44% YTD Mirrorless unit share (of Mirrorless + DSLR) 50% (was 44% Jan-Jun 2019) Mirrorless Shipped Value share 62.7% (was 59.3% Jan-Jun 2019) The ratio of lenses shipped to bodies shipped is 1.79 for Jan-Jun 2020.  It was 1.72 Jan-Jun 2019 List of participating CIPA companies can be found here.
