The amaran 2ft (T2c) and 4ft (T4c) tube lights by Aputure have arrived, and they come with a new feature that makes them stand out from the rest of the tube light category: locking external batteries. I took these new lights for a spin over several weeks, and here is my full video review. A while ago, Aputure launched its new amaran LED tube lights, namely the T2c and T4c models. In case you missed it, be sure to check out my corresponding full written review here. In short, these are quite handy LED tube lights that are more on the affordable side of the spectrum. Still, these lights seem to be quite versatile and could prove useful in many shooting scenarios. Just be aware that the amaran brand is geared more towards entry-level or prosumer filmmakers. Their products are more affordable, yes, but these lights certainly aren’t made to be thrown around in lighting trucks or rental houses. Given the relatively low weight of the 2ft and 4ft amaran tubes, you could perhaps get away with a single 1/4-20 mounting point (with a safety tie).
