10 July 4th Movie Releases That Blew Up the Box Office

As we enter the July 4th weekend, I am excited to see how movies like Jurassic Park: Rebirth do and all the other big ticket items releasing this weekend. I am also rooting for the box office. When movies do well, all of Hollywood rejoices, there are more jobs, and I do think the prosperity trickles down. The summer, particularly this weekend, is a historic time for these huge wins. I know I have plans to go see a couple of movies over the long weekend, and I hope you do, too. Today, I want to review some movies that dominated the July 4th Box Office and were highly lucrative. Let's dive in. 1. Independence Day (1996)No list of July 4th blockbusters would be complete without the film that literally wears the holiday's name. Released on July 3, 1996, this sci-fi disaster epic from director Roland Emmerich became a watershed moment in event filmmaking. It was THE July 4th release, inventing the weekend as a marketing tool and really capitalizing on people being off and wanting to see something big and boisterous.The movie had everything going for it. It had groundbreaking special effects, a star-making turn from Will Smith, and excellent marketing.
