Allright. Thank you for your quick reply. I stumbled on one store which offered this lens as a kit with a GH4 for a reasonable price, so I had to ask.
Nope, all electronic focus by wire and it sucks for video or even serious photo manual work: -Different focus sensibility for different focal length -non repeatable movement -no stops -super sensitive at long focals
But all around this lens is quite good, and a real no brainer on a olympus (after 6months of ownership)
Hi! Could you please tell me, if the focus system is mechanical i.e. usable for repeatable follow focus operations?
Thanks!
3 month review and samples update. I used this lens on and off, I was really close to selling it at some point because of : -Speed -Lack of IS But then there is not many alternatives, especially in this price range. This lens is very well built, compact, quite sharp and has good AF performance on my GH3 (much better than my 20mmf1.7). I would like to compare it to a Panasonic 14-140 IS...
As I also got myself a "big boy" oldie Tokina atx-pro 80-200 f2.8 and I have been runing some tests of course : -at 150mm f5.6 the tamron is much sharper, more contrast and punchy colors but has also a lot more vignette. -at F8 things even out with maybe a little more sharpness from the Tokina but still better colors from the Tamron.

Overall for a lightweight kit, the Tamron and the pana 20mm does it all. As I sad before, this lens is perfect for Olympus users with the IBIS!

Test footage, I really like this lens, I had my samyangs and 20mm in the bag but did not even think about getting them out! Olympus users, for the price I would not hesitate. For panasonic users the lack of stabilisation is quite an issue, it is quite hard to get good footage without some kind of stabilisation dervice.
Quick report about this lens : I paid 365€ for the lens new, with the goal to replace my 14-42 kit lens with something better, plus I always wanted a huge zoom. So this lens is lighweight, with huge zoom range, very well made with metal and high quality plastics construction. On the other hand it's not fast not stabilised (!) flares quite a bit, and not super sharp at 150mm. But this paired whith a 20mm f1.7 will make a very good travel combo.

So far so good, i'll put it to test next week in korea ;)
The Tamron 14-150mm f/3.5-5.8 Di III is a love it or loathe it kind of lens for Micro Four Thirds shooters. On the one hand, when scrutinizing images at 100% magnification, there some quite obvious issues with the image quality. On the other, it's very liberating to shoot with one compact, lightweight lens that offers a broad enough focal range to cover the majority of subjects that you'll encounter.

It's a great walk-around lens for times when you simply want to go out and take pictures but also has plenty of scope for shooting sports action and close-ups of wildlife.
It's small enough to fit in a handbag or large jacket pocket when attached to an OM-D camera (particularly the E-M10). And it won't take up much space in a regular camera bag.

Tamron USA, Inc. announced the price and delivery of its first All-In-One™ high power zoom lens designed for Micro Four Thirds mirrorless interchangeable-lens cameras. The Tamron 14-150mm Di III (model C001) will be available in the USA starting June 26, 2014 at $589.
For the past 22 years since Tamron released to the market an extremely practical high-power zoom lens (28-200mm Model 71D) in 1992, the company has endeavored to continually develop high-power zoom lenses. By actively using its long-cultivated technology, Tamron has successfully developed an epoch-making compact and stylish, high-power all-in-one zoom lens that will further accelerate the attractiveness of the Micro Four Thirds cameras in the market.
When the development of this model was originally announced in January 2013, the lens was slated to feature built-in VC (Vibration Compensation). However, a series of deliberations and discussions over the course of the development process resulted in the removal of VC functionality.
- Employing one LD (Low Dispersion) glass element, two AD (Anomalous Dispersion) glass elements two Molded-Glass Aspherical elements and one Hybrid Aspherical element, Tamron's new Micro Four Thirds high-power all-in-one zoom lens delivers leading-edge image quality by reducing aberrations to a bare minimum
- The ingenious optical design achieves a compact body with a filter diameter of just 52mm.
- A stepping motor that is optimized to match this model provides silent, quick and accurate auto focusing.
- The metal lens barrel exterior is available in two colors: black and silver, providing the most popular color options to match high end cameras.
- Using a circular diaphragm, this lens achieves spectacular background blur effects.
$590 and no OIS. Huh.
Hopefully it will, could be a nice all rounder with a bit a character for the BM pocket cam.
I haven't heard anything since the lens was announced in January.
I do not remember precise release date, but must be available in summer time, if I remember correctly.
I haven't heard anything since the lens was announced in January. So that's 5 months, is this common for a 4/3 lens or any lens in terms of delay from announcement to actual release?
Anyone see this lens at NAB? This lens seems very appealing. Looks like it has a very smooth zoom function.
