I have a new project I'm working on and require a portable, tripod mountable, smooth programmable/motorised panning head with remote control. I don't see the need to spend a grand or more on Kessler style stuff and have been looking at items like a Hague 360 Degrees Motorised Power Head With Remote Control. Mounting a GH4 / Sony A7SII.
Has anyone used the Hague or what's the best £500 ($700) max budget. Opinions sought.
Thanks for the info @davedv
Wish this was cheaper! Senna Wireless 5 Second Pan & Tilt Head:
The Hague 360 (which is basically a Bescor MP-360 head I believe) is definitely one of the cheaper options.
It's relatively smooth if you use a lightweight camera and wide angle lenses, but a little less so for more telephoto shots. One thing to be aware of is that the tilt range is rather limited (15 degrees either way, up/down).
It's also not directly programmable, so you can't really do timed/programmed moves with it like the Kessler stuff (although I'd imagine it's possible to build some kind of add-on that replaces the remote control to do something like this).
ServoCity also sells some lower end pan/tilt heads, such as the PT-785 ($349) and MPT-1100 ($649): https://www.servocity.com/html/pt785-s_pan___tilt_system.html https://www.servocity.com/html/mpt1100-ss_pan___tilt_system.htm
Both have 6 lb. capacities so similar to the Bescor, although they are priced a bit higher.
I don't really have any experience using the ServoCity heads though, so I'm not sure how they compare in terms of smoothness and performance.
