Drone Lighting

An article from MIT describes a system of self-positioning drones used for lighting videos. Looks interesting. But I wonder whether such lighting would ever work outdoors, given the weight of batteries to power decent video lights, and the issue of disturbing sound recording by loud chopper noise...

That seems totally doomed by physics. Battery lifespan is a major limiting factor of drones that AREN'T carrying lights or powering them.
I mean, yes, it's cool, and the capability of the drone to maintain a position relative to the subject is also amazing, but in real life I really doubt this will be particularly practical. Tom Airboxlights.com
