How to Virtualdub with GH4 MOV footage -- for NeatVideo?
  • Is anyone using Neatvideo with GH4 .MOV UHD footage? I would like to create de-noised files before I start editing (in premiere pro cc) but I cannot get MOV files to show up in virtualdub. I downloaded the Quicktime 64bit filter and I still get NO VIDEO. Is anyone else using this process or have tips on how to make it work? My goal is not necessarily to use Virtualdub, but to use NeatVideo to create de-noised files before I start my edit. Thanks.

  • VirtualDub only opens AVI files. You can try remuxing the .mov file to .avi using ffmpeg. Then install ffdshow-tryouts, which can decode h.264. But I'm not sure if ffmpeg can successfully put h.264 into an AVI file successfully. AVI doesn't officially support b-frames.

  • Im pretty sure I was using GH3 .mov files just fine with Virtualdub and NeatVideo as a plugin. I may have had to get the ffmpeg plugin though.

    Try this:

    http://sourceforge.net/projects/virtualdubffmpeginputplugin/

  • Open the MOV file with ffmpeg.
