Sony RX100 mk III topic

Very impressive entry by Sony. I'd definitely pick one up for easy carry ... but just blew my camera budget on a GH4. EVF makes all the difference for me. I hate using the rear LCD as a viewfinder. Fast lens, built in ND filters, higher bitrates... What's not to like?

nice but I will stay at the RXII. Absolutely enough for point n shoot, making of and private pictures & videos. 50mbit/s sound seductive but for professional shots I will use a professional camera ;) I also experienced 70mm (equivalent) as too short.

It will probably be identical to the RX10, which our team owned and returned. Excellent in good light, and bad in dim. Color fall off, especially in browns, in low light. Spectacular resolution. DR not so much. Microblocking will be better due to codec change,

This camera could be a very good aerial video platform! the mk1 and MK2 were quite good already. What's the weigth? my LX7 does not fit on my phantom 1 but if this one is under 250gr... maybe^^

what's important is the data ...and how much of it . Pany released a 50Mbps mp4 in their new camcorders . We can probably expect to see that repeated in future consumer cameras.

XAVC:Sony = MOV:Panasonic

same h.264 compression, but without the restrictions of AVCHD so higher bitrates can be used, but it does not mean one is better than the other since other algorithmic parameters will impact the output quality.

but it is higher bitrate recording at 50Mbps. I'm hoping it also has 70/120p as well , just like the cx900

XAVC is marketing term made by Sony, it is not some new compression :-)
