  • Here is my GH rig based on Lanparte shoulder mount rods and bolting the Varavon loupe onto a cage. The front section is removable to mount on tripod, back section balancing and recording 10bit 1080i in the AJA Ki Pro Mini. I've loaded the firmware upgrade but Pana still haven't addressed the 50p output that needs to be 25p on the HDMI port. I returned the interface unit and got a second GH-4 instead. Also, I'm tinkering with the LA7200 anamorphic adapter.

  • GINI parts and a 5v/9v/12v battery that is integrated into the baseplate and padded to make a shoulderpad, and which powers the monitor, GH2 and a H4n recorder.

  • I especially like device to fix camera operator head.

jaj ajaja ja aja that's just too good @humpman :D

  • @Vitaliy_Kiselev some of my friends told me this too, them ask me "Is it an execution device?". You didn't see my homemade crane, it's a pity but i didn't shoot it in camera.

  • @humpman

This one directly went for first prize :-) I especially like device to fix camera operator head.

  • @oscillicn I don't have a G6 so I can't say for sure. I did measure the GH3 which barley fits the VF-4. It is 2 1/4 inches from the bottom of the camera to the bottom of the EVF. You might measure the G6 and see how they differ to get an idea.

    @matt_gh2 Thanks!

  • @grisnjam Spectacular! Would it work on a G6?

  • @grisnjam Straight up genius. Love it. I did a few basic mods for recent shoot but damn you've got the skills. Well done. Thanks for sharing.

  • Here is a video I made about my new rig for the GH3 and GX7:

    Stills here:

    Thanks,

  • Less than perfect pic. But it's pretty simple. Cavision reverse mounting plate system on 25cm carbon rails, with a TrusMT NF2 follow focus and a Cavision Mini 3x3 matte box. Personally I am in love with the Matte Box, and can't imagine using anything bigger on a GH2. The Matte Box only weighs about 350 grams with all three flags. This picture is from before receiving the leather donut adapter ring which fits like a glove into the matter box and cinches tight on lenses up to 77mm diameter (or was it 82?). It is a very light setup, but still I am aiming to shave another 8-12 ounces off this by getting a lighter mounting system, and maybe even a catclaw follow focus. The trustMT is nice, but has had a few hiccups (suspect I got a bad unit). Not pictured are my tiny light weight bicycle grips which I adapted to the rods using some clear hose from my fish tank water changing system. Not ideal, but until I have some extra cash it works. I can also use my very light weight manfrotto monopod as a shoulder support, handle, or monopod if you can imagine that. Pretty versatile though not the most comfortable.

  • It's a custom Ford modified with a 57 Bel Air Grill, Probably why you thought it was a Buick.

  • Hey that's not a custom Candy Apple Red 'Roadmaster' by any chance?

  • @feha - Nice! I look forward to one of your reviews of that rig.

Here's mine, improved with eye chamois and wireless lav and new shoulder pad...

  • @FW200 that is exactly the type of rig i was thinking of setting up but have no idea where I would start. Can you explain a bit how you built that rig out?

  • My new rig :-)

  • This is a bit out of date now... I've switched from the Olympus 14-54mm to the 12-60mm, added a Cinematics gear ring that is larger and stands out farther for more precise focus adjustment, and added a Cat Claw lens support. I also switched to a coiled HDMI cable with a right-angle plug.

What has stayed? Fotga DP500 2 follow-focus with hard stops, DP500 1 rail mount with quick-release upgrade, Genus mattebox with Nun's Knickers, H056 LCD monitor (H005 version firmware with peaking) on a Manfrotto quick release on a Vinten Vision Blue tripod. I also have a Fifty-dollar follow-focus that I use in place of the Fotga when I have to pull my own focus, or need a lighter rig.

  • I call it FRANKENRIG!!!! Battle tested and the scars to show it :) It's big but I can go the whole day without any plug in power. Every piece of equipment is powered off of 2 ATC power supplies. That was my goal as well to switch from tripod to handheld at any time in any light. The sound recorder is facing out for my sound guy and I've added HDMI splitters for a makeshift video village so people won't be looking over my back. She ain't pretty boys but she gets the job done!
