SSD vs HDD for FireWire video capture

    I am capturing some old Digital 8, Hi8, 8mm, VHS, miniDV tapes through the firewire port on the pci card. When I capture to SSD the software freezes, when I capture to HDD the software works fine. I just don't know why... Both SSD and HDD are connected to Sata port direct to motherboard. For playback and editing both SSD and HDD works fine.

    It is pretty old stuff.

    At first you ened to see exact SSD model, as new QLC ones can have 20-30Mb/sec recording speed. Much worse than HDD.

    One good advice can be to buy used DVD recorder (super cheap now!) and just capture to disk directly (both analog and digital).
