What do we know about the novel coronavirus?

  • According to newly released recordings of interviews done in February for a book by the journalist Bob Woodward, Trump acknowledged he knew how deadly and contagious the coronavirus was but played it down because he did not want to create a panic.

New attack on poor Trump. Issue is that in the same time other side insisted on not locking down travel and such.

  • There will soon be a million dead worldwide. Here is how long it took for another 100,000 people to die since 29 June, when the toll passed half a million – the days below are those that passed between the dates. These figures are based on the Johns Hopkins University tracker, which relies on official government data (I’m counting the days between dates when these numbers were passed):

    • We passed 600,000 on 19 July. 19 days
    • We passed 700,000 on 5 August. 16 days.
    • We passed 800,000 on 24 August. 18 days.
    • We passed 900,000 on 10 September. 16 days.

Looking at the above, if the rate continues to be similar to the last few months, it looks likely that the death toll will pass 1 million before 1 October. (20 days).

In many countries ruling class found method to hide around 80% of infected and up to 70% of real deaths. Mostly by making it all happen at isolated homes instead of hospitals and by adding random delays to PCR testing and rechecking stages. One of the reasons of high reported rates in spring had been that nursing homes and other facilities did not have big PCR delays and you could not hide deaths so it had been simpler to transport people to hospitals anyways.

  • Short pause comes to and end

France recorded almost 10,000 new Covid-19 infections on Thursday, its highest ever total in a single day. The country reported 9,843 new confirmed cases, an increase of almost 900 on the previous day, when 8,975 infections were announced.

This comes as the government prepares for a Friday cabinet meeting that may end in new local lockdowns being introduced.

  • Mordor updates

Even official reported cases jumped back to July numbers.

Official and big online media are promoting antivaccine stuff and managed to make 50% of mostly very badly educated people to "never ever" take any vaccinations.

Same media are promoting not wearing masks despite all the medicine now mostly not available and servicing COVID patients.

  • Some talks with business owners, one in EU and two in US

All 3 expect very hard lockdowns, but later, in October and especially November.

  • Googling for Gut Symptoms Predicts Covid Hot Spots

Internet searches on gastrointestinal symptoms predicted a rise in Covid-19 cases weeks later, researchers at Massachusetts General Hospital found, demonstrating a novel early warning system for hot spots of the pandemic disease.

Researchers at the top-ranked hospital in Boston compared search interest in loss of taste and appetite, and diarrhea with the reported incidence of Covid-19 in 15 U.S. states from Jan. 20 to April 20. Using Alphabet Inc.’s Google Trends online tool, they found the volume of searches correlated most strongly with cases in New York, New Jersey, California, Massachusetts and Illinois -- states with high disease burden -- three to four weeks later.

The research, published in the journal Clinical Gastroenterology and Hepatology, showed that the same approach used to monitor pandemic influenza trends more than a decade ago could be deployed for the coronavirus

“Our data underscore the importance of GI symptoms as a potential harbinger of Covid-19 infection and suggests that Google Trends may be a valuable tool for prediction of pandemics with GI manifestations,” Kyle Staller, a gastroenterologist and the director of Mass General’s gastrointestinal motility laboratory, and colleagues wrote in the study.

It can be all explained in reverse manner. Injection of virus into tap water in specific areas of large city to cause the spark of virus cases.

Contrary to common theories such approach can explain also significant drop of serious cases and deaths, as almost all new cases now are infections that people got through lungs and have very small amount of initial virus load, while at the initial injection phase it had been high loads people got via water that that had been huge impact to the immune system.

So, good advice can be to get reverse osmosis water purification system to be sure.

  • Brain damage issues

Headaches, confusion and delirium experienced by some COVID-19 patients could be the result of the coronavirus directly invading the brain. The virus is able to replicate inside the brain, and its presence starves nearby brain cells of oxygen, though the prevalence of this is not yet clear.

Doctors had believed until now that the neurological impacts seen in about half of all patients could instead be the result of an abnormal immune response known as a cytokine storm that causes inflammation of the brain — rather than the virus invading directly.

Iwasaki and colleagues decided to approach the question in three ways: by infecting lab-grown mini-brains known as brain organoids, by infecting mice and by examining the brain tissues of COVID-19 patients who had died.

In the brain organoids, the team found that the SARS-CoV-2 virus is able to infect neurons and then hijack the neuron cell’s machinery to make copies of itself.

Infected cells in turn promoted the death of surrounding cells by choking their oxygen supply.

One of the main arguments against the theory of direct brain invasion had been that the brain lacks high levels of a protein called ACE2 that the coronavirus latches on to, and which is found in abundance in other organs like the lungs.

But the team found that the organoids had enough ACE2 to facilitate the virus’ entry, and the proteins were also present in the brain tissue of deceased patients.

They also performed a spinal tap on a hospitalized COVID-19 patient suffering from delirium and found the individual had neutralizing antibodies against the virus in their spinal fluid — further evidence in favor of their theory.

The team then looked at two groups of mice — one set that was genetically altered so it had ACE2 receptors in only its lungs, and the other in only its brain.

Those infected in their lungs showed some signs of lung injury, while those infected in the brain lost weight rapidly and quickly died, indicating potentially heightened lethality when the virus enters this organ.

Finally, they examined the brains of three patients who died from severe COVID-19 related complications, finding evidence of the virus in all to varying degrees.

The infected regions did not show signs of having been infiltrated by immune cells, such as T-cells, which rush to the site of other viruses like Zika or herpes to kill the infected cells.

This could hint that the overloaded immune response known as cytokine storm which is responsible for much of the damage seen in the lungs of COVID-19 patients might not be the main cause of neurological symptoms.

It has been hypothesized that the nose could provide the pathway to the brain, but the authors wrote this needed to be validated through more study.

  • Capitalism kills - South Korea

KMA and KIRA members have said they oppose government plans to boost the number of medical students over several years, establish public medical schools, allow government insurance to cover more oriental medicine, and introduce more telemedicine options.

The government said its goal to increase the number of medical students by 4,000 over the next 10 years is necessary to better prepare for public health crises like the coronavirus pandemic.

Student doctors, however, said the plan would unnecessarily flood an already competitive market, and that the extra funding would be better spent improving the salaries of existing trainees.

Competitive market, increase my own salary and I do not care about the others... Very old familiar mantras.

Remember - each year capitalism kills tens of millions directly and much more due to lack of science development and lack of food and medicine.

  • It seems like they want to make better virus

AMD today announced a second round of high-performance technology contributions to assist in the global fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. AMD is now contributing high-end computing systems or access to Penguin-On-Demand (POD) cloud-based clusters powered by 2nd Gen AMD EPYC and AMD Radeon Instinct processors to 21 institutions and research facilities conducting COVID-19 research. With 12 petaflops of total supercomputing capacity now awarded, the combined compute capacity donated through the AMD COVID-19 HPC Fund would rank among the fastest supercomputers in the world according to the most recent Top500 list.

"AMD is proud to be working with leading global research institutions to bring the power of high performance computing technology to the fight against the coronavirus pandemic," said Mark Papermaster, executive vice president and chief technology officer, AMD. "These donations of AMD EPYC and Radeon Instinct processors will help researchers not only deepen their understanding of COVID-19, but also help improve our ability to respond to future potential threats to global health."

The AMD COVID-19 HPC fund was established to provide research institutions with computing resources to accelerate medical research on COVID-19 and other diseases. In addition to the donations of $15 million of high-performance computing systems, AMD has contributed technology and technical resources to nearly double the peak system of the "Corona" system at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory which is being used to provide additional computing power for molecular modeling in support of COVID-19 research.

The second round of AMD-donated compute capacity is expected to be operational starting in Q4 of this year and will be used for a number of pandemic-related workloads including genomics, vaccine development, transmission science, and modeling. Research projects range from evolutionary modeling of the virus, to understanding the virus spike protein activation that occurs prior to first interaction between the coronavirus and human cell, and large scale fluid dynamics simulations of COVID-19 droplets as they travel through the air. To maximize the impact of the research, AMD is also initiating a working group for COVID-19 HPC Fund recipients and AMD engineers to jointly discuss research areas and findings as well as hardware and software optimizations that can accelerate their collective work.

To date, the AMD COVID-19 HPC fund has donated computing systems or cloud-based computing capacity to: Cambridge University, Carnegie Mellon, GENCI / French National High-Performance Computing Agency, Harvard Children's Hospital, High Performance Computing Center (HLRS) / the University of Stuttgart, MIT, NYU, CSIR Fourth Paradigm Institute in India, Leibniz Supercomputing Centre (LRZ), Rice, Stanford School of Medicine, Texas State University, The University of British Columbia, The University of Texas at Austin, UCLA, University of Arkansas, University of Toronto, University of Trento, University of Vermont, Virginia Commonwealth University, and Washington University.

Rumors are that Folding@home distributed protein folding project had been partially used to find theoretically ideal protein that could attach to ACE2 cell receptors, and result had been used in construction of present COVID-19 virus.

  • Unusual Features of the SARS-CoV-2 Genome Suggesting Sophisticated Laboratory Modification Rather Than Natural Evolution and Delineation of Its Probable Synthetic Route

The COVID-19 pandemic caused by the novel coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 has led to over 910,000 deaths worldwide and unprecedented decimation of the global economy. Despite its tremendous impact, the origin of SARS-CoV-2 has remained mysterious and controversial. The natural origin theory, although widely accepted, lacks substantial support. The alternative theory that the virus may have come from a research laboratory is, however, strictly censored on peer-reviewed scientific journals. Nonetheless, SARS-CoV-2 shows biological characteristics that are inconsistent with a naturally occurring, zoonotic virus. In this report, we describe the genomic, structural, medical, and literature evidence, which, when considered together, strongly contradicts the natural origin theory. The evidence shows that SARS-CoV-2 should be a laboratory product created by using bat coronaviruses ZC45 and/or ZXC21 as a template and/or backbone. Building upon the evidence, we further postulate a synthetic route for SARS-CoV-2, demonstrating that the laboratory-creation of this coronavirus is convenient and can be accomplished in approximately six months. Our work emphasizes the need for an independent investigation into the relevant research laboratories. It also argues for a critical look into certain recently published data, which, albeit problematic, was used to support and claim a natural origin of SARS-CoV-2. From a public health perspective, these actions are necessary as knowledge of the origin of SARS-CoV-2 and of how the virus entered the human population are of pivotal importance in the fundamental control of the COVID-19 pandemic as well as in preventing similar, future pandemics.

Note that one of the authors is famous HK girl who accused China for long time, so be little sceptical.

  • only apologist would be skeptical...it's past time to fux china up.

  • @kurth

You always need to be skeptical and question everything.

It is clear that Chinese labs had been part of the plot, but I think that they had been part of the much larger whole.

My own view is that we have much smarter western elites who outplayed Chinese nationalists, who are strong still inside military, by luring them all data and at proper releasing their virus near Chinese lab that worked on very close viruses. After this Chinese tried to fake stuff, yes, to get out of the trap.

Western elites now fight with their own product - their average citizen who have big issue understanding that they talk about here. And that global part of the elites (who stand behind grand plot) decided to also cheat their own nationalists and declare that it is no any lab virus around.

  • Directors of economy destruction blame the performers

America’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic has been “shocking” and “unbelievable,” with matters made much worse by “terrible leadership,” said Bill and Melinda Gates in a series of interviews this week.

The couple condemned the United States for bungling its pandemic response. They criticized not only the Trump administration for its inaction, but also national bodies like the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for making key errors over the past year.

“You know, this has been a mismanaged situation every step of the way,” Bill Gates told Stat News. “It’s shocking. It’s unbelievable — the fact that we would be among the worst in the world.”

Why both of them are not in the state prison and why we do not see them charged for treason?

  • Treasonous behaviorist

He should be Hanged in front of the world in a live action free to watch episode of some big name show world wide.

His body should be burned and all his properties donated to proper causes, his money also burned and showed to the world as example of what happens to corrupted souls like his.

  • @endotoxic There is a lot of blame to go around. So don't forget Fauci for saying we don't need masks, WHO total incompetency, and let's not forget Woodward for hearing the dangers from the horses mouth in February but holding the information till it's to late, the list goes on. So why didn't Bill Gates use his phenomenal wealth and influence to bring truth to us? I could care less about his comments now. Both parties in the U.S. are letting the country burn for their own self interests

  • @Scot

Both parties in the U.S. are letting the country burn for their own self interests

Because both parties are element of dictatorship of bourgeoisie, and it is little strange to help opposing class in the first world war that you started against him.

  • Half the world’s schoolchildren are still unable to attend classrooms due to the pandemic. Around 872 million – more than half of whom have not been able to study remotely – are not allowed to attend school in person, Unicef executive director Henrietta Fore said..

  • Trump

US president Donald Trump said Covid-19 would go away without a vaccine. This would happen because of “herd mentality”, he said in an ABC town hall. It is unclear whether he meant herd immunity, as he repeated the phrase several times. “It would go away without the vaccine, George,” he said speaking to ABC journalist George Stephanopoulos. “With time it goes away. And you’ll develop like a herd mentality. It’s going to be herd developed, and that’s going to happen. That will all happen.”

I think he found new good term - herd mentality. :-)

  • UK tightly control testing

The proportion of people in England being told they have tested positive within a day has collapsed from 63% at the beginning of the month to just 8% this week. The paper reports:

The collapse in testing speeds, first reported by statistician Chris Drake, meant that on Tuesday, half of those receiving a positive result had taken the test at least three days earlier, and for a quarter of the cases the news took four days or more to come.

  • WHO’s Kluge urged the public not put big hopes on vaccines

“I hear the whole time: the vaccine is going to be the end of the pandemic. Of course not,” he said. The end of the pandemic would come when communities learn to live with the disease, he stressed.

The Global Preparedness Monitoring Board warned far too little is being done to prepare for future, possibly even more damaging pandemics.

Explanation for dumb - be ready, we work on new stuff, release soon.

  • Are people really afraid to die? Or they just realize their death is the plan of others? Are they afraid of what? Really death Or Is really a thing of terror? It’s a weapon? What is covid?

The thing i constantly think is this covid concept. I’ve say it before this is not a pandemic this is a concept that is being pushed and its CHANGE. Covid is change in all levels but by who? For what?

This is the real question. Who make the changes and for what? Why we need this change? Why in this way?

Is going to get worst. This change is constantly being changed. Pushing the limits of new laws new concepts trying new things that are obviously not for our interest and not for our own good as a species.

Is really a thing of terror this desease or a real wake up call to make a change. We need all this deaths? It’s a lot of questions,!but they really need an answer? or just go with the wind and let the thoughts and devotions of others do the work?

It’s healthy to really think about this not only in a virulently way and see only the organic development of this desease, but the anthropological effects and its deeply developing roots on society.

As we all Know by now things are not going to return the old normal and that’s ok, advancing mean to not go back. But are we real advancing the right path, by letting other massively dictate in this sophisticated way our future?

Covid concept must be studied more. It’s not just a virus, and it’s going to be used constantly in different flavors on the future.

We need to get the Right tools to gat a vaccine for our minds and understand that this is not just a desease, and if you want to have some freedom in near future, will you have it?

On an executional level what does covid make you execute and how? Governments people institutes, schools, businesses, all are Executing the “desease” at its own way. Have you realized why I say executing all in their own way? All it’s systems, processes and forms Of developing their activities, products and services have change! Your way of life and the hopes for the future have changed.

For how much time? Is it sustainable and for how long?

The more time passes the clearer the sight of this has become. The after effect of this is mayor, and the circles painted on the street and the distancing of people will prevale in a way or another. The programming of children inside the house preparing them for the new frear, sorry the new normal.

Execution of covid is beyond this year, is long term. For what? For who? Clearly the present ones must die for this phase. Covid is really directed to our children’s era or something like that, we are just the scatter on top.

So change. It’s social change, it’s accepting what has become, what is going to happen even if you don’t know, it’s pre programming new changes. It’s a social idea a concept of acceptance and a disolved self being more prone to new ideas and massive ruptures. Executing new laws and new standards for new people.

Covid has done a hell of a job in just some 6 good months and is an idea that is more virulent and toxic than the desease itself. It is changing society fast and the real problem is we are not really preparing our selfs for the Nearby future.

Thing is we are infecting our self mutually constantly making statements and assuring the laws and ideas that have injected us with. Talking to friends and families, to team mates and working partners, infecting them with this new Idea.

Mom don’t get out dad no!! Put on your mask, son please fear the dust, friend if you die have you? We are transforming by love by fear by doubt concepts of family, assurances, work, sport, wellbeing, couples, all for a desease that kills 2% of their infected people? New fears aint? And we Are thinking of a vaccine for our body’s.

    And for our minds?

  • @endotoxic we live in the era of " transhumans " in the sense that merging with the machines (from railroads to the cyber pig and everything in between) humans won't ever be better than the machines ( in specific tasks ) but at the same time losing they're humanity. The positive pole always wanted humans with free will while the negative always machines.
