  • New firmware makes autofocusing performance of the X-T3 same as X-T4

    • The fastest AF speed has been improved from 0.06 seconds to 0.02 seconds, equivalent to the performance of the X-T4.
    • The algorithm for predicting subject movements has been updated.
    • AF tracking performance has been doubled*. Press the shutter button halfway down when a subject is in the focus area to maintain focus on the subject with a higher level of accuracy.
    • The Face Tracking / Eye AF performance has been upgraded. The algorithm has been re-written to double* the tracking performance of the Eye AF in continuous shooting modes.
    • The update allows the camera AF to work in low light levels down to -7EV**, facilitating fast and highly-accurate phase-detection AF even in near darkness.
    • The new firmware adds the "Focus Limiter" function, which gives a pre-define specific focus range.

    • When compared with the Firmware Ver.3.30.

** When using the FUJINON Lens XF50mmF1.0 R WR.

    Other improvements.

    • The size of the Single AF point can be adjusted during video recording.
    • Photo ratings can be read by third-party software, allowing users to find their favorite pictures quickly.
    • The focus point can be changed by the focus lever during the AE lock.
    • The default setting of the AF-S PRIORITY SELECTION in the RELEASE/FOCUS PRIORITY of the SHOOTING menu is changed to FOCUS from RELEASE.

  • The upcoming firmware v 4.0 will be released on October 28th, and it will significantly improve AF performance across the board: boosting overall AF speed, improving AF tracking performance, increasing the hit rate when using Face/Eye AF, and improving low-light autofocus as well.

Peak AF speed has been cut from 0.06 to just 0.02 seconds, matching the X-T4, and the algorithm for predicting subject motion has been updated, bringing the “expected ‘hit rate'” to “90% or more.” AF tracking performance has been doubled—including Face and Eye Detection tracking—and that low-light autofocus has been improved to work in “near darkness.”

  • Firmware v3.20 released

    Enhanced autofocus.

    • Improving the tracking performance of the eye AF frame, making it easier to attain accurate autofocus on the eyes.
    • Improving face-detection performance when there are faces of different sizes within the same frame, making it easier to attain accurate autofocus.
    • Improving autofocus capability on a foreground subject even when there is a mixture of foreground and background subjects within a AF frame, causing the foreground subject to go out of focus, e.g. when shooting flowers against a busy background.

Capability to save up to 9,999 pictures in each folder

Until now, the number of pictures that can be saved in a folder on an SD card was limited to 999. This update will raise the limit by ten times to 9,999 pictures.

The phenomena below during a movie shooting are fixed

    • Focus hunting at the minimum aperture.
    • A black line can sometimes appear on the bottom of the center.

  • PR on new firmwares

FUJIFILM Corporation (President: Kenji Sukeno) plans to release a series of firmware updates for the FUJIFILM X-T3 (hereinafter "X-T3"), starting in mid-December 2019. The updates reflect requests of additional features and operability improvement, received from users of the X Series of mirrorless digital cameras.

The upcoming update will enable controls for video recording from Gimbal / Drone via USB communications. You can combine the X-T3 with a Gimbal / Drone that supports this function to significantly broaden your shooting options. FUJIFILM is in communication with Shenzhen Gudsen Technology Co., Ltd.*, SZ DJI Technology Col, Ltd.** and ZHIYUN*** (listed in the alphabetical order) about their plan to release compatible products. Fujifilm also plans to deploy this function to the FUJIFILM X-T30 and other models. Further firmware updates in the future will bring autofocus enhancement and other improvements to the X-T3.

    Main features

Firmware update for the X-T3, due to be released in December 2019

Firmware version: FUJIFILM X-T3 (Ver. 3.10)

    Gimbal / Drone support

This firmware adds the following function to complement the current support for still image shooting via USB communications:

    • Starting and ending video recording
    • Adjusting exposure settings (exposure mode, shutter speed, aperture, ISO sensitivity, exposure compensation) for video recording
    • Making manual focus adjustments

Firmware update for the X-T3, due to be released in January 2020

Firmware version: FUJIFILM X-T3 (Ver. 3.20)

    2. Capability to save up to 9,999 pictures in each folder
      • Until now, the number of pictures that can be saved in a folder on an SD card was limited to 999. This update will raise the limit by ten times to 9,999 pictures.
  • Firmware v3.10 will be out soon, will add many remote control features (USB connection):

    • Starting and ending video recording
    • Adjusting exposure settings (exposure mode, shutter speed, aperture, ISO sensitivity, exposure compensation) for video recording
    • Making manual focus adjustments

A further firmware update in January 2020, version 3.20 will bring autofocus enhancements:

    • Improving the tracking performance of the eye AF frame, making it easier to attain accurate autofocus on the eyes

  • New Firmware Updates for FUJIFILM X-T3

New firmware version [FUJIFILM X-T3 Ver. 3.00] for the FUJIFILM X-T3 will be released in April 2019 to strengthen the accuracy of the X-T3's face/eye detection feature, and to provide enhanced AF performance and speed, and operability of the X-T3 touch screen.

    • Enhanced Accuracy of Face/Eye Detection and AF Performance: The X-T3 firmware update provides improvements in the X-T3's AF algorithm, with face detection of the X-T3 enhanced by approximately 30%. Additionally, the firmware serves to make the AF tracking even more stable not only in still photos but also in video recording.
    • New "Face Select" Function: The new X-T3 firmware update adds a new "Face Select" function to provide priority auto-focus, tracking, and exposure on a selected subject when multiple faces are detected within a frame. X-T3 users can make a selection via the touch screen or focus lever.
    • Fast AF Speed: The X-T3's new firmware update provides the camera with a new AF algorithm, which improves the AF speed from previous versions, regardless if the subject is located a short distance or farther away.
    • Intuitive Operability: The firmware update provides additional settings for the X-T3's touch screen that provide enhanced ease-of-use when focusing.
  • Fujifilm has new upcoming firmware update for the X-T3 - v3.0. It'll come in April.

Firmware 3.0 will further improve Eye-AF, will provide faster AF tracking performance and face detection. Face selection will be added, and 'touch operability' will also be improved.

  • New v2.10 firmware

    • Recording over 4GB movie file as one file - Movie files are no longer split when the file reaches 4GB file size. The file is recorded as one file providing an SD memory card greater than 32GB is used (excludes 32GB). By using SD memory cards less than or equal to 32GB, movie recording will continue without interruption when the file size reaches 4GB, however subsequent footage will be recorded to a separate file. Note: Format SD memory cards before first use, and be sure to reformat all memory cards after using them in a computer or other device.
