Amazon

  • Is it me or does Amazon act like a street-level criminal enterprise in some ways? Are recalled products vigorously recalled like how box stores are required to do? The whole shipping enterprise started as unmarked vans as if they're fencing stolen goods out of the back of them. Was there any registration involved? I know rideshare apps skirted regulations, initially.. It seems, even today, like the company goes as far as it can to skirt the law and governments are too milquetoast to do anything about it.

  • Amazon is your friend, it wants to help you...

Items listed as “sold by Amazon” saw price increases of anywhere from 48 percent for hand sanitizer (a product category that Amazon said it had placed restrictions on back in March), to 1,000 percent for packs of disposable face masks. In the case of toilet paper, for example, the non-profit group said it found a pack of eight rolls being sold for $36.39 back in June, while other retailers have charged just $6.89 for the same product. One bottle of antibacterial soap was listed at a high of $7, compared to a low of $1.49, an increase of 470 percent.

  • Gen. Keith Alexander is joining Amazon’s board of directors, the company revealed in a Securities and Exchange Commission filing today. (Alexander has also been added to the company board’s official site.) A former director of the National Security Agency and the first commander of the US Cyber Command, Alexander served as the public face of US data collection during the Snowden leaks, but retired from public service in 2013.

General got his personal carrier. Expect attacks soon. Lot of Chinese firms will be badly surprised.

  • New Amazon 100% Discounts, unfortunately the Amazon drivers or trucking company are independent contractors who are responsible for losses, not Amazon

  • The German Federal Cartel Office is noew investigating the allegation that Amazon abused a market-dominating position during the coronavirus pandemic.

“We are currently investigating whether and how Amazon influences retailers’ pricing on the marketplace,” told Andreas Mundt.

During the first months of the pandemic, there were complaints that Amazon had blocked retailers because of allegedly excessive prices.

“Amazon must not be a price controller. That also applies now,” Mundt said.

  • Amazon has had talks with Simon Property Group about converting some of its mall spaces into fulfillment centers. The conversations started before the coronavirus pandemic, and before the latest wave of bankruptcy filings by mall stalwarts like Lord & Taylor, JCPenney, and Nieman Marcus.

  • To add some perspective

  • The Federal Communications Commission has approved Amazon’s plans for its ambitious Kuiper constellation, which entails sending 3,236 satellites into orbit to beam internet coverage down to Earth.

Idea is, of course, to focus on China bringing US propganda through firewall.

  • Q2 reported net income is $5.2 billion. And it is double the amount of money it made this time last year - $2.6 billion. Net sales increased 40 percent to $88.9 billion this quarter.

    Staggering.

Tens of thousands small and medium sized businesses died in Q2 to make it all happen.

Amazon touted that, since March, it created 175,000 new jobs, of which it is currently converting 125,000 into regular, full-time employees. The company said that it committed $27 million toward Black Lives Matter donations, though $8.5 million in donations comes from employees.

I tis just small thing - around 90% of new full-time employees had 1.5-3x better salary on previous place of work.

  • Huge fire devastates Amazon warehouse & trucks in California

A fire ripped through an Amazon warehouse in Redlands, California, with work trucks also set ablaze, briefly closing a nearby highway. Video from the scene shows smoke billowing out of the fulfillment center, and fire engulfing multiple Amazon trailers and trucks outside the building.

  • On May 1st, hourly employees — a vast majority of which are among the company’s 250,000 or so warehouse workers who cannot work from home — must request an unpaid leave of absence to continue staying home if they do not want to work out of fear for their safety during the COVID-19 pandemic.

But Amazon still don't want to spend record profits to provide proper protection and work routines changes.

  • Amazon employees have accessed sales data from independent Marketplace sellers to help the company develop competing private-label products, according to a report from The Wall Street Journal.

Past Amazon employees and one current one told the WSJ that rules barring the practice weren’t uniformly enforced. In addition, former Amazon employees said using the sales data from sellers was “a common practice that was discussed openly in meetings they attended,” according to the report.

Of course they used this data, each seller use such to cut out the small competition on marketplace.

Issue is that they openly told lie answering this.

  • Amazon will keep its six warehouses in France closed until at least April 22 after a stand-off with unions over sanitary conditions amid the coronavirus outbreak, it said on Sunday.

I propose to nationalize all of them due to dangers posed by US management.
And after this run criminal investigation and independent investigation of Amazon profits.

Thing is that strong rumors appeared that Amazon is using advanced offshore and financial conversion schemes to not show their profits of their international departments. So they hide them in lot of small barely visible offshore companies.

  • Amazon will provisionally be allowed to invest in UK-based food delivery startup Deliveroo, the UK’s Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) announced today. Deliveroo originally announced the $575 million funding round lead by Amazon last May, but the CMA was initially worried that the deal could be bad for competition. Now, however, the authority thinks the investment will be better for competition overall.

    Coincidence? I don't think so.

We see how Amazon is growing at unprecendent pace destroying now up to 1k businesses per day. Invading all possible areas and use threats if they feel so.

  • Amazon has decided to shut down all of its fulfillment centers in France after a French court ruled the company could be fined €1 million per item for shipping anything not directly related to medical supplies, hygiene products, and food items.

Look... Amazon lied how important are "essential items", actually they had NO intention to prioritize food and medical supplies, they do not care. As only sex toys Amazon profits are now around 4x compared to previous months. And it is more of simialr categories where Amaozn in making billions per week in profits.

Really hope that Amazon will be stopped across the EU later this year.

  • @jleo

Calm down, USPS shutting down is recurrring horror.

  • If the US Postal Service shuts down, that might be the end of ebay...then Amazon will be King of the Ecommerce jungle :)
