The Tamron 35mm ƒ/1.8 Di VC USD SP offers decent results for sharpness when used at its maximum aperture of ƒ/1.8, and improves remarkably when stopped down. When the lens is employed on a sub-frame camera like the Canon 7D, the results are slightly better in the corners because the lens is trained on a smaller capture area.
The new Tamron 35/1.8 VC is versatile and interesting lens. It offers a fast f/1.8 aperture combined with image-stabilization that is good for two stops in my tests. That makes this lens hold out longer in dimly lit situations. It produces sharp images right into the corner of a full-frame sensor and can focus close up to a magnification of 1:2.5 which is ideal for capturing small subjects. It's relatively small and light. The only thing standing against is the color aberrations of this lens which can be pretty nasty at times.

This isn’t one of the sharpest lenses out there, and indeed this isn’t one of the lenses strongest points. Of all the 35mm lenses that we’ve tested, this is one of the softest, but again that isn’t saying a lot considering how good modern lenses are.

This lens offers premium features, such as weather sealing, silent autofocus and Vibration Compensation, which will make it an interesting alternative to other similar lenses. It is certainly capable of delivering excellent quality images, with high sharpness in the center of the frame.

Both center and edge sharpness are outstanding between f/2.8 and f/8. At f/11 and f/16 sharpness is beginning to drop off to diffraction.

Really hoping the focus throw is greater than 90 degrees on this lens. Im going to assume it is mechanically focused and not "by-wire" since its a 3rd party lens. Any info about possible Sony E mount?
