Nikon will release firmware version 1.10 on Feb. 25. According to Nikon, firmware version 1.10 for the Z7 II and Z6 II full-frame mirrorless cameras will be released on Feb. 25, unlocking Blackmagic RAW, better Eye-Detection AF, and other enhancements. Additionally, the Z6 II will record 4K UHD 60p, which is already available on the Z7 II. To shoot BRAW, it requires the Z7 II and Z6 II to be sent to a certified Nikon facility to perform a hardware update. That cost is $199 +shipping. However, if you already purchased Nikon's RAW video upgrade for ProRes RAW, downloading the latest firmware version will give immediate access to BRAW when paired with Blackmagic Video Assist 12G HDR external recorders. It's worth noting RAW recording isn't available across all sensor formats on the more robust Z7 II. The Z7 II records 4K UHD RAW in DX (24x16mm) only and full HD RAW in FX (36x24mm) only.
