You Can Now Watch the 'Friends' Spin-Off Episodes NBC Hid for 20 Years

I don't know if there's anything better during the holiday season than lounging around binging TV (maybe you're a Hallmark holiday film fan) or watching all the year's awards screeners. It's the most wonderful time of the year.NBC is pitching into this year's watchlist. Remember the Friends spinoff Joey? Twenty years ago, it was suddenly cancelled due to low ratings, and Season 2 didn't even get to conclude.NBC just made all of Joey available on the Friends YouTube channel, including eight episodes American audiences have never seen before.When the show got axed in 2006, those final episodes aired internationally but not in the U.S. Now, almost two decades later, fans can finally see how Season 2 actually played out.The show launched strong in fall 2004 with 18.6 million people tuning in, benefiting from Friends' massive Thursday night audience. But by its second season, only 7.1 million viewers were watching. NBC shuffled it around the schedule, first dropping it from Thursdays in late 2005, then briefly trying it on Tuesdays in early 2006 before cancelling it altogether. Those last eight episodes just sat in limbo.The premise had Joey moving to L.A. to pursue his acting career, crashing with his sister, Gina (Drea de Matteo), and her son, Michael (Paulo Costanzo). Jennifer Coolidge, Andrea Anders, Miguel A. Núñez Jr., and Ben Falcone rounded out the cast.Spin-offs are notoriously difficult to pull off. Pulling a character away from their group rarely works.
