We’re very proud to announce that after months of tweaking the engine, you should experience a considerable increase in site performance and speed from now on. More steps are still being taken to increase site speed even more, but let’s break down what’s been done so far. How did we make the site faster? Since our product update this morning, we are loading specific parts of the pages (articles) asynchronously, so the main content is available quicker.Popular pages are preloaded to reduce the server load.External data is updated with specific intervals to reduce traffic and free critical bandwidth for our visitors.We are using a CDN (Content Delivery Network) to geographically spread our content like images so it can be served by a server closest to our visitors. Constantly optimizing site speed New features require new measures to keep the site fresh and snappy. We introduced a number of new features over the last years, most notably the CineD Databases and the Gear Guides, both of which contain hundreds and sometimes thousands of sub-pages, generating a lot of additional traffic on the site.
