Tilta has just introduced a 24V Power Distribution Module for the DJI Ronin 2 that is specifically designed to power high-voltage camera systems – such as the ARRI ALEXA 35, ALEXA Mini and Mini LF – when mounted on the gimbal. It retails for $135. First unveiled at NAB 2017, the DJI Ronin 2 is still the company’s most advanced gimbal and many cinematographers’ favorite choice for stabilizing heavy camera packages. However, its 4-pin power port can only output at 14.4V, which can be limiting when flying 24V camera systems like the ALEXA 35 or the RED V-RAPTOR XL. Some companies have already developed solutions for powering 24V cameras directly from the Ronin 2. For example, we recently reported on the DJI Ronin 2 Tilt Stage Upgrade from 1A Tools. Now, let’s take a closer look at what Tilta has to offer! Tilta 24V Power Distribution Module for DJI Ronin 2. According to the manufacturer, the accessory easily screws to the bottom of the gimbal and can provide a constant 24V output (96W/4A) to power-hungry camera systems and accessories. There’s a downside, however. Indeed, as Tilta points out, when using a 24V camera system with the Ronin 2’s 4-pin power port, it is advisable to connect extra accessories like wireless video and follow focus systems...
