Horror is one of the most reliable genres, and studios seem to have figured this out and released more horror movies than ever this year. That influx of horror made for some fun weekends at the theater. Many buzzy films were released in 2024, and I tried to see most of them. However, regarding the horror genre, I felt like I had just scratched the surface. Today, I want to review the 11 horror movies I saw in 224 that I consider the best. Since it's all subjective, don't consider this a ranking. It's more of a "to watch" list that I curated. Let's dive into the list. 1. 'The Substance'One the most audacious and exciting movies of the year. It's a body horror film written and directed by Coralie Fargeat. It stars Demi Moore, Margaret Qualley, and Dennis Quaid.2. 'Longlegs'Osgood Perkins horror thriller that blends elements of crime procedurals and occult horror for a bananas story with Maika Monroe and Nic Cage. 3. 'Late Night With the Devil'This found-footage movie transports you back to the 70s for an epic creepy David Dastmalchian performance. 4. 'Heretic'Beck and Woods take on the door-to-door missionaries who are taken in by Hugh Grant with some sinister motives and some big life questions. 5. 'Terrifier 3'An all-time gross-out violent movie that sticks with the themes of the trilogy and expands on the practical effects we've seen. 6.
