It should be available later this year. In August last year, the Japanese lens manufacturer introduced a family of two zoom lenses designed for Sony E-mount full-frame mirrorless cameras, the fast 35-150mm f/2-2.8 Di III VXD and the 28-75mm f/2.8 Di III VXD G2. Now, the company is expanding its zoom offering on the wide end of the spectrum, by announcing a product that has close-to-zero competition, the compact and lightweight 20-40mm f/2.8 Di III VXD. Its fast aperture of f/2.8 remains constant across the whole zoom range, which varies from a wide 20mm – advertised to be an ideal focal length for v-logging – up to a standard 40mm. The minimum focus distance of the lens is 0.17m/6.1”.
