Sony's AirPeak Could Change How We Shoot Video With Drones

Sony opens the door to AirPeak, it's latest drone technology. A few months ago Sony teased Airpeak, a drone project that's said to combine Sony's "imaging and sensing technological expertise and AI Robotics." Today, at CES 2021, the company has pulled back the curtain exposing some pretty cool details. According to Sony, the Airpeak drone will be equipped with a Sony Alpha full-frame mirrorless camera, which reminds of Freefly's recent release of its Astro drone that's combines a Sony a7 IV. The combination should be a winner among indie filmmakers, especially those who desire to match footage to other Sony Alpha cameras. In the video above you can see that Airpeak is a quadcopter design where the two legs retract upon take off. The gimbal that holds the Alpha camera looks rock solid. It could even spin 360° during flight which would be fantastic for creating different shots.
