The Sony a7 III is now shipping. Sony announced the a7 III in February of this year and bumped its max resolution to 4K UHD 100/60 Mb/s at 23.98, 25, 29.97 fps. The 24.2MP back-Illuminated Exmor R CMOS sensor provides full-frame coverage using a 6K pixel readout to oversample 4K footage. Both S-Log2 and S-Log3 gammas are included with Sony adding an HLG (Hybrid Log-Gamma) picture profile for HDR workflow. The mirrorless camera also got a bump in its focus capabilities. Besides its 5-axis image stabilization, Sony included the focusing power of its a9, adding 693 phase-detection and 425 contrast-detection AF points for fast hybrid autofocus. As previously mentioned, it features AVCHD and XAVC S codecs, an ISO range of 100 to 51200 (expandable to 50 to 204800), dual card slot recording, a clean HDMI output and a Z-series battery offering 2.2x more life over the original. For those looking for higher frame rates, its max is full HD at 120 fps, 100 Mbps. The a7 III is shipping now and available for $2000 US. Read More...
