SmallHD Camera Control For Canon Cinema Cameras – C70, C80, C300mkIII, C400, C500mkII Support

SmallHD has introduced camera control functionality for Canon Cinema EOS cameras through a $400 USD software license. The system enables real-time configuration of the C70, C80, C300 Mark III, C400, and C500 Mark II directly from compatible SmallHD monitors, allowing operators to adjust shutter speed, aperture, ISO, ND filtration, codec selection, and record triggering through the PageOS platform. Let’s dive into SmallHD Canon camera control. SmallHD’s Canon integration joins existing camera control protocols for ARRI, RED, and Sony VENICE cameras. The system supports both hardwired Ethernet and WiFi connectivity depending on camera model, with touch-to-focus capability and full access to Canon’s deep menu system. Shutter angle, ISO, ND filtration (adjustable in two-stop increments up to six stops), color profile selection, and white balance controls occupy dedicated sections. Users can slide through values or tap individual parameters for granular adjustment including Kelvin temperature control. Touch-to-focus works with Canon RF and EF lenses that support autofocus communication. Beyond quick-access parameters, the system provides navigation through Canon’s complete camera menu structure using either the monitor’s joystick or on-screen directional controls. Collage mode scales up the camera control interface while maintaining access to SmallHD’s monitoring tools. The expanded view...
