SIRUI Aurora 35mm f/1.4 Full-Frame Autofocus Lens Introduced – Expands Hybrid Lens Portfolio

At IBC 2025, we sat down to talk to Sonny Liu, a product manager at SIRUI, as the company just unveiled the Aurora 35mm f/1.4 lens, expanding their Aurora family, which previously consisted of a single 85mm f/1.4 model released in 2024 (review here). The new lens targets run-and-gun operations with a compact form factor weighing 490 grams. Let’s take a closer look. SIRUI, established in 2001 in Guangdong, China, has grown from a tripod manufacturer to a comprehensive cinematography equipment company. (watch our factory tour here.) The company operates production facilities for anamorphic lenses and camera support systems, with an approach that centers on combining performance with affordability, targeting both emerging filmmakers and established professionals. According to Sonny, the lens incorporates three aspherical elements to achieve size reduction while maintaining optical performance. The lens features fast autofocus capabilities optimized for video work. SIRUI claims the lens delivers sharp performance wide open at f/1.4 across the entire image circle, with particular attention paid to corner sharpness compared to their existing 85mm model. Furthermore, Sonny indicated that the Aurora family will expand beyond the current 35mm and 85mm focal lengths as he confirmed development of wider focal lengths for early 2026, along with longer telephoto options, though specific focal lengths were not disclosed.
